Where do chefs and restaurateurs go and, more importantly, where do they love to eat? In Resy Regulars, we ask Resy chefs and industry folks to tell us where they’re regulars.
For Meaghan Dorman, the bar director and partner of Raines Law Room and Dear Irving Gramercy, hours can be unpredictable, and hours free from work are precious.
“These are places I picked because they’re definitely great to go solo, or to meet friends after. I wouldn’t want to [take a friend] anywhere I wouldn’t want to go alone – these are my test cases,” Dorman laughs.
They’re also ideal, she says, for off-hours dining and drinking, a must for those who work in the service industry. Her list of the best places to score bar seats outside of prime time all share a focus on music, a kind and welcoming staff, and of course, a killer drinks program.
“I mean, I’ve stayed at my job 17 years. Clearly once I like a place, I stay,” she adds.
Without further ado, here are Dorman’s five favorite places to enjoy a meal and a drink at the bar during non-prime hours, in her own words.
