New York’s Newest Restaurant Openings, Now on Resy

Because this is where you want to find yourself with a drink in hand. It’s inspired by the classic, intimate bars you might find in Tokyo’s Ginza District, with expertly crafted cocktails and a wide range of Japanese whiskies and sake.

Chef Yoshihiko Kousaka has dedicated his life to the practice of omakase, earning him Michelin recognition and status as a critic’s darling for years. At Kumiko Room, housed in One Bryant Park, there’s a 14-seat counter you should absolutely sit at if you can.

It’s the flagship restaurant inside one of the city’s most impressive destinations for Japanese fine dining. This kaiseki spot from chef Tadaaki Ishizaki serves a tasting menu in either 11 or five course iterations.

A Chez Ma Tante alum keeps it in the neighborhood at 148 Noble Street, serving up a menu of cuisine inspired by Paris, New Orleans, and London. It’s (nearly) hidden on a residential block, so look carefully when you head over.

Here, an elaborate menu of Portuguese cuisine comes to you from the chef behind West Village’s Leitao. Petiscos, a show-stopping stuffed rooster, and port-forward cocktails abound.

It’s a sexy steakhouse and supper club from the same team behind favorites like Cucina Alba and Baby Luc’s. Think white-glove service, a memorable playlist, a great wine list, and crowd-pleasing standards for everyone.

You can go for either an à la carte or seven-course tasting menu at Legion, a restaurant inspired by the American South. Either way, you’re in for a treat, with seafood-forward preparations and a lovely fine-dining sensibility from chef Truman Parsons, an alumnus of Per Se and Le Bernardin.

A trio of Bangkok natives brings a heady taste of their hometown to New York with heirloom rice, housemade ferments, and artwork from Bangkok’s legendary weekend street market.

It’s a neighborhood spot with grand ambitions of being your favorite sports bar. Think juicy burgers, fried chicken tenders with a Cambodian lime pepper sauce, lemongrass beef skewers, crisp fries, oysters, beer, and wings. P.S. They’ve also got weekly and daily specials you won’t want to miss. And do consider The Tiger’s Den, their ’70’s-style cocktail lounge in the backroom for your next private event.

It’s a classic Southern-style all-you-can-eat buffet from the Kisa and C as in Charlie team. Built in the image of classic American buffet institutions, it costs just $26.99 per person, and offers plenty of fun and nostalgia for all.

Fergs has down home country cuisine (think cast iron cornbread, fried okra, and chicken fried steak), healthy pours of moonshine, and an interior built to match with a jukebox and plenty of retro wood accents.

Everyone’s much-adored vegan Szechuan restaurant with multiple locations throughout the city has all your favorites, from savory, juicy chile oil wontons to expertly fried rice.

Sourdough takes center stage on the menu at Boogie Lab in the form of pizzas and sandwiches, and the interior is as groovy as the name suggests. The cocktail list is accompanied by a Croatian-leaning menu of aperitif.

Named for the Italian word for slow, Bar Lento serves up wines, seasonal small plates, and warm service meant to be enjoyed without rush.

It’s part of a rapidly expanding empire of Latin American joints. Enjoy your bounty of paella, churrasco, and croquettes for as long as you like – they encourage a good linger.

Because this is Indian fare served in a beautiful, breathtaking setting that you’ve likely not experienced before. Expect a menu of thoughtful, creative bistro-style dishes from former Ambassadors Clubhouse New York chef Guarav Bathla that you won’t soon forget.

It’s a reworking of Chateau Royale, in the same space from the same team. The menu runs elevated American with lots of Italian influence, with choices like vodka sauce mozzarella sticks, wagyu cheeseburgers, and disco fries enjoyed best in one of their red leather banquettes under lamplight. P.S. There’s also an off-menu veal Parm to consider, too.

This is the Confidant team’s next-door wine bar, serving pours from regions around the world and New York-style pizza catered to the late-night, after dinner service crowd.

Second House is an intimate sanctuary dedicated to tea. When we say dedicated, we mean it – you won’t find food, milk, or sweeteners here. Know that you’ll have to take your shoes off, too.

It’s another location of a decades-old Mediterranean spot with a sultry, lantern-lit vibe. The menu goes above and beyond hummus and babaganoush (although their versions are excellent) with Turkish dumplings and kebab.

Having a cocktail here feels like stepping into the life of namesake 1900’s socialite Elsa Maxwell, with its plush velvet curtains, leather couches, and orange-hued lighting.

Open-face temaki hand rolls in Union Square are what you’re in for at Te No Te, although we’d really say you’re in for a treat. Don’t skip the sake list, either.

There’s never been anything wrong that we could find with listening to live jazz, especially in a space as inviting as One Flight Up. Know that your Resy is for the night’s set; find the schedule on their website.

With a wine list 2,500 bottles deep, you’d better hope the staff knows their stuff. Luckily for you, at Amphora they really do. In addition to your pour, order several somethings from the menu, all of which come pre-paired with a wine selection should you choose to order it (you should).

Burgers and steak frites by (late in the) day, DJs and dancing by (later in the) night — there’s very little not to love about Matches. A round of martinis for everyone, too, please.

Go for à la carte or omakase at Chikara, where the sushi and sashimi is both seasonal and fresh. Sit at the counter, if you can.

Comforting Dominican fare is on the menu here at Santiago’s Garden, where your best bet is to enjoy your bounty on the spacious outdoor patio.

Head here for Haitian and Caribbean meals that run the gamut from braised goat to salmon Wellington. Don’t forget the banana crème brûlée for dessert.

It’s a New York institution serving up steaming bowls of 17-hour tonkatsu ramen in their Astoria locale.

Gorgeous views of the Hudson and classic rooftop vibes aside, Creatures also serves food and carefully crafted cocktails that are sure to impress. Warm, friendly service, stunning views, and excellent food and drink: What else do you need?

Recente is a happy marriage of Italy and Australia, from two alums of Dante and a chef who hails from Down Under. The former lends recipes and aperitivo culture, and the latter offers coastal sensibility and fresh ingredient takes. Together, it’s a wedding we’re happy to attend — more than once.

It’s a fresh take on a steakhouse from chef Sujan Sarkar of Indienne, who draws from the London chophouses of his early career, imbuing a familiar format with Indian flavors.
