31 Great New York Tasting Menus Under $100

At this lovely, cozy corner spot in Carroll Gardens, chef Nico Bouter (formerly of Flora Bar, Eleven Madison Park, Kingfisher) crafts a memorable $95 five-course prix-fixe that takes its cues from around the globe. Think dishes like pork schnitzel, hamachi crudo with sweet melon and lovage, and ricotta sungold ravioli, to name a few. Whatever you do, you’ll want to save room for the Tiger bread, served with a generous dollop of cultured butter and confit garlic.

Cost: $95 per person for a five-course preix-fixe; $55 per person for an optional wine pairing.

Aquavit is a critically acclaimed temple to Nordic cuisine with a long list of options for prix-fixe menus, but the two that fall into our parameters are offered during lunch. You can enjoy either the two-course ($80) or three-course ($95) Monday through Friday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Choose from dishes like the excellent herring cake with Danish rye, savory Swedish meatballs with lingonberry and, if you opt for three, a lovely princess cake for dessert.

Chef-owner Junghyun “JP” Park originally opened Atoboy by taking the Korean staple of banchan to new heights with a large-format, affordable prix-fixe menu. Ten years later, Atoboy is still going strong with an entirely revamped menu of new seasonal favorites like fluke with jellyfish and omija, octopus with romesco and a kimchi potato chip, and pork jowl. Longtime regulars need not fret, however: You can still order Atoboy’s excellent fried chicken with spicy peanut and yangyummy sauce as a $29 add-on.

Pre-theater diners can and should enjoy the spoils of Bar Bas, where dinner costs $42 per person between the hours of 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. It gets you three courses — a green salad, your choice of entree like steak or moules frites, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Pro tip: Bar Bas is housed right inside its sister spot, Marseille.

Andrew Carmellini’s house of pasta is always worth a trip, but there’s something special about embarking on a splurge of this quality for lunch. Luckily, they have a steal of a prix-fixe menu, served weekdays from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Choose from dishes like Brussels sprouts with crispy pepperoni, fusilli gigante with pesto and stracciatella, meatball parm, and pistachio gelato with pistachio sauce for dessert.

Cost: $39 per person for a prix-fixe weekday lunch.

At Bodai, chef Guo Wenjun serves up a lovingly crafted prix-fixe menu of vegan Chinese dishes with ingredients sourced from mountains, forests, and other natural areas around the globe. For $99 you’ll enjoy nine courses, including pan-seared mushroom with green millet, sweet and sour vegetarian riblets, their “Ancient Recipe for Secret Zhajiang Noodles,” and “Nectar of the Gods” for dessert.

Everyone’s favorite Michelin-starred Korean barbecue happens to serve up a steal of a deal. The Butcher’s Feat is practically a New York City rite of dining passage at this point, and it clocks in at a cool $82 per person. For that you’ll get beef bone consomme, banchan, scallion salad, red leaf lettuce with ssamjang, a savory egg soufflé, two stews, four cuts of beef, and vanilla soft-serve ice cream with soy sauce caramel.

Price: $82 per person.

The beloved and ready-for-all-seasons outdoor dining setup at this Chinatown favorite for tabletop grilling might be gone for now, but Dr Clark is still a standout spot for a fun night out, kotatsu tables or not. If you’re looking for a tasting menu that’s ideal for a group, consider Dr Clark’s Choice ($69 per person). It highlights their Jingisukan tabletop grill with udon, along with seasonal soup, sashimi, fried chicken, scallop risotto, and Basque cheesecake.

Cost: $69 per person, with full table participation.

Cost: $65 per person for the dac biet dinner, $88 per person for the super dac biet dinner.

Handmade pasta lovers will delight in the $98 pasta tasting menu from Forsythia, which starts with a rotating starter, followed by your choice of antipasti and three pasta courses, one of which will always be exclusive to the tasting menu, your choice of two additional courses, and a dessert.

Cost: $98 per person, $65 for an optional wine pairing.

You’ll find a refined omakase experience at this Upper East Side suhshi-ya from experienced sushi chefs Gary Ke and Po Shing Ng who could most recently be found behind the counters at Kinjo and Ito. Their 90-minute 14-course tasting menu includes everything from aburi toro from Spain to shima aji from Nagasaki, Japan, all for just $85 per person.

Cost: $85 per person for a 14-course omakase.

True to its Italian name, this Nomad restaurant embraces flowers in every dish. They’ve designed a menu that showcases the very best seasonal ingredients, and his chef’s four-course prix fixe doesn’t disappoint. The menu changes all the time, but do be on the lookout for their deft pasta making skills — especially with the black pepper and lavender pappardelle — and the arancini made with Arborio rice. 

Cost: $85 per person for four courses with a $40 per person optional wine pairing.

If you’re in the mood to try a little bit of everything — and at ilili, we can’t stress how important that will be — their family-style Lebanese Journey menu is 100% your next move. Make your way through pea mint hummus, fried kibbeh, carrots in labne, and for mains, a traditional lamb shank , mixed grill, or hearth-baked loup de mer. Mind you, those are only a few of the choices that await.

Cost: $80 per person.

Long before there was Bungalow or Ambassadors Clubhouse , there was Junoon, and now they have fantastic two-course and three-course prix-fixe menus during lunch that are some of the best in town. Junoon pioneered elegant, nuanced Indian fine dining that melds contemporary influences with time-honored traditions, and that legacy continues today. Standout classic dishes include eggplant chaat, shrimp moilee, and ma’s rice pudding. And for newer dishes, you can’t go wrong with tandoori paneer or asparagus saag. Better yet, the meals also include basmati rice and naan.

Cost: $43 per person for two courses and $49 per person for three courses at lunch.

Cost: $56 per person for three courses at dinner, $35 per person for two courses at lunch.

Price: $48 for three courses.

Sometimes, you just need every course to be dessert. Enter Lysée, former Jungsik pastry chef Eunji Lee’s gleaming palace of patisserie. Their signature prix-fixe menu comes with their corn dessert, a trompe l’oeil mousse cake delightfully shaped and flavored like an ear of, well, corn; the signature Lysée mousse cake, flavored with Korean toasted brown rice and caramel; a seasonal tart; and a kouign amann.

Cost: $60.50 total, recommended to be shared between two.

Few chefs are as innovative and creative as Danny Bowien, and it’s been wonderful to see him back in action over in Chinatown the latest installment of Mission Chinese Food (MCF). While you can always order MCF staples like the addictive cabbage or Chongqing chicken wings à la carte, if you really want a taste of the breadth and depth of the menu, you can — and should — opt for their tasting menu. The tasting menu is a veritable banquet of MCF’s greatest hits and their newest ones, making the cut right at $100 per person.

Cost: $100 per person.

This Korean American pocha from chef Jae Lee brings the best of both culinary cultures together in fun, creative, and wholly delicious ways. Some prime examples: the must-order chopped cheese rice cakes, and their legendary cheeseburger with two patties, a kimchi special sauce, and new-school American cheese. You get a taste of both of those when you and your dining companion opt for the “mixtape” tasting menu, offered for six family-style courses. P.S. A very similar tasting menu is also available at their original East Village location, too.

Cost: $49 per person for six courses in Bushwick or the East Village, for a minimum of two guests and full table participation.

Pig & Khao knows how to bring the party, especially when you come with a larger group. You’ve basically got no choice but to opt for the family-style brunch or dinner meal options – any other move would be a mistake. At dinner, you’ll get bottomless rice, Jell-O shots or ube soft serve, and a varied number of small plates, noodle, meat, and fish dishes depending on the number of people you’re with. Brunch is a similar deal, with bottomless rice, a mimosa or coffee, and small plates plus sweet and savory dishes.

Cost: $50 per person at dinner, $38 per person at brunch with optional hour-long bottomless mimosa add-on for $10 per person.

You can add on both of the extra options for dinner — the focaccia and the bone marrow — and still end up at under $100 per person at Tallow. The name of the game here is steak, which you’ll enjoy for $49, plus fries, sauce, and an Italian-style salad to start. By our count, a pepperoncini martini ($19) would also keep you within our price limit. Cheers.

This neighborhood bistro from chef Kevin Finch offers a seasonal prix-fixe lunch menu on Fridays and Saturdays that’ll more than satisfy. Dishes might include an heirloom tomato sandwich and ratatouille alongside a beef tartare made with New York top sirloin or tile fish with piquillo romesco and Jimmy Nardello peppers.

Cost: $52 per person for a prix-fixe lunch offered on Fridays and Saturdays.

Everything about Little Hen makes us say “awwww.” The name, the flowery tea-service décor, and the endearingly mismatched plates make this a stop you won’t soon forget. Their afternoon tea service carries on well into the evening on Saturday and Sunday, with reservations available as late as 5:30 p.m, and until 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Treat yourself to traditional tea sandwiches, English scones with clotted cream, and an assortment of petite sweets – plus, you may as well add on that Champagne pairing, too, while you’re at it.

Cost: $42 per person for the afternoon tea service, with an optional $10 prosecco or $20 Champagne pairing that still keeps you under that $100 mark.

One of our favorite spots in the city for New England-inspired seafood serves up a steal of a set lunch menu on Sundays for just $52 to $65 per person. The creative menu changes all the time, but you might just find dishes like their signature anadama bread alongside steamed hake with smoked butter, or chilled shrimp with tangerines and cucumber.  And if you want to and don’t mind going over $100, you can always add on their famed lobster roll ($42), too.

Cost: $52 to $65 per person for a multi-course set lunch served on Sundays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

From Tuesday to Friday, this uptown outpost of a Tribeca favorite is offering a two-course lunch menu. Start things off with a little gem salad or cucumber gazpacho and then choose an entree like chicken schnitzel, a cheeseburger with caramelized onions, and black truffle cavatelli. Between the cozy dining room’s reclaimed wood and soft lighting, you’ll hardly remember you’re in Midtown.

Cost: $35 for two courses at lunch, if you’re here between Tuesday and Friday.

This isn’t a tasting menu, per se, but coffee connoisseurs will certainly appreciate making a weekend reservation to try one of Driftaway Coffee’s flights at their intimate counter in East Williamsburg. The selection changes frequently, but you can explore everything from single-origin and limited-release coffees. There are two different flights offered, each with a selection of three different coffees.

Cost: $40 per person for the “Funkytown” flight of two pourovers and an espresso; and $40 per person for a “Coffee Three Ways” flight.
