Miss Lily’s Chef Andre Fowles’s Favorite New York Spots to Chill With Friends
Where do chefs go and, more importantly, where do they love to eat? In Resy Regulars, we ask Resy chefs to tell us where they’re regulars.
In this edition, we’re chatting with Andre Fowles, the culinary director of Miss Lily’s, where he puts a modern, downtown spin on Jamaican classics at their locations in New York’s East Village, Dubai, and Negril, Jamaica.
Since joining the team as chef de cuisine at the now-closed Soho location in 2014, he’s helped establish a distinct menu for each outpost. New York leans in on creative fusion, with dishes like jerk ramen and a jerk crab boil; Dubai lends itself towards the luxurious, with pimento and tamarind glazed lamb ribs and chile king crab; and Negril basks in beach bites like codfish fritters.
When Fowles goes out in New York, his palate also spans the globe. His favorites, however, are casual spots where he and his industry friends can enjoy “a chill hangout” to recount their shared humble beginnings in Jamaica and their lives in New York, where they’re leading various culinary projects.
Here are a few of his favorite spots to dine with a crew, in his own words.
