As part of a whirlwind US tour, Trattoria Al Cacciatore de La Subida, one of Friuli’s most beloved restaurants, will make a stop at New York’s Charlie Bird on Sunday, February 22nd. La Subida is a treasured, irreplaceable restaurant, family run since the day it opened outside Cormòns in 1960. Their chef, Alessandro Gavagna, will partner with Charlie Bird’s Ryan Hardy on a 5-course dinner, which includes wine pairings from Venica & Venica. The menu includes toc in braide (soft polenta with foie gras), cervo con i Mirtilli Rossi (grilled filet of venison with lingonberry sauce), and Sfogliatine al Frutti di Bosco (sweet house-made ricotta with crispy caramelized pasta and wild berries).

Some color from Grant Reynolds at Charlie Bird: “I think La Subida epitomizes the tradition of hospitality in the small, intimate family run restaurants of Italy that any visitor falls in love with. The food is honest and has such a remarkable sense of place. To have the Sirk family leave their idyllic outpost in Friuli and join us for one night is truly an honor.”

The one-night-only dinner takes place in Charlie’s private dining room and seats ($250/pp) are extremely limited.
