The 10 Restaurants That Defined L.A. Dining in 2022

By

In a strong year for dining, what were the absolute standouts?  We asked our contributors to the Resy Hit List to share their top 10 dining experiences from this year in their city — restaurants and meals that left an impression, and helped to define the state of American dining right now. Please welcome back our Best of The Hit List. (You can find other cities’ top picks here.)

As 2022 comes to an end, it’s time to take stock of the year in restaurants. Luckily for us, it was a good one. Not only did a handful of new openings blow us away, but there was range among those that rose to the occasion. At the top of the list is Pijja Palace, the cheffy Indian sports bar that takes the crown for its wholly original concept and standout execution.

Then comes Mother Wolf, the breakout restaurant from the pack of Hollywood openings that signaled a new era for the neighborhood. Meanwhile, Bar Moruno is the neighborhood restaurant Silver Lake desperately needed (with a bar program to match), and Anajak Thai finally got its much-deserved moment in the spotlight.

If 2021 was about reinvention and perseverance, this year showcased the Los Angeles restaurant scene in bounce-back mode, armed with pre-pandemic learnings yet still up against significant challenges (labor shortages, inflation, etc.). And sure, 2023 will likely have more headwinds in store for us. In the meantime, let’s celebrate this year’s big wins. From thin-crust, Goan sausage-topped pizzas in a Silver Lake strip mall to Thai-flavored tacos served in an alley in the Valley, here is 2022’s Best of the Hit List — Los Angeles edition.
