Four Things In the Bay Area Not to Miss This Month

  • Now Open: Get ready to try that new new: Feast on thick burgers with smoked bone marrow and listen to some B-sides at Side A, a new modern American spot and vinyl listening bar from chef Parker Brown (Aphotic) in the old Universal Café Space. Or maybe try some thin and crispy pizza from Tartine alum Max Blachman-Gentile at his pop-up-turned-brick-and-mortar Jules, now open in the Lower Haight. Heading north? Sample the tasting menu at Enclos in Sonoma. For more of the latest and greatest openings in the Bay area, check New on Resy.
  • New Menu, Who Dis? Late spring and early summer brings fresh new menus from old favorites. Flour + Water will offer a special forager pasta tasting menu throughout June, shining a light on purveyors like Sea Stephanie Fish and Black Diamond Mushroom Co. Over at Besharam, chef Heena Patel also debuted a new tasting menu, featuring biryani arancini (the best Indian-meets-Italian mashup in history) and a paneer korma with smoked cardamom butter sauce. Drool.
  • Celebrate Pride. San Francisco celebrates everyone every single month of the year, but especially during Pride Month. Show your support for the community and patronize inclusive, diverse, and delicious spaces and places like the Michelin-starred Hilda and Jesse in North Beach (get the pancakes — no questions asked), or the very cool cocktail bar Friends and Family in Oakland, where they’re quietly creating some of the best bar food in the Bay Area. Or take a little drive to Sonoma and hit Valley Bar & Bottle, where the vibes are always right and the fare is as California-fresh as it gets.
  • Wine Time:  Check out chef and winemaker Maz Naba of the California-Lebanese Ilna pop-up: on June 14, he’ll be at Merkado with a five-course Lebanese tasting menu, plus a series of Sunday spreads at Buddy. And if you want to hang with fellow wine nerds,  Ungrafted, the Dogpatch wine bar, is hosting their annual picnic June 15 in Crane Cove Park. Plus, as always, find more special events and Resy experiences here.
