The Bay Area Restaurants We’re Loving Right Now
Published:
If there’s one thing you must know about the people who work at Resy and Tock, it’s that we genuinely love restaurants …
This month, Team Resy and Tock chased after Peking duck and buttermilk shortcake, had many an excellent pie, and gorged ourselves on peak-season produce.
Lunch upstairs remains a singular experience…
… at Café Chez Panisse. The warmth of the room makes you feel like you’re spending a few hours in a magical wonderland, an idyll of what it means to be a restaurant. In late summer, that meant peak season for tomatoes, figs, and summer chanterelles. Truly no place like this.

Everything was literally perfect…
… at Pearl 6101. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We enjoyed the halibut crudo, the gemelli, some seared scallops, and the buttermilk shortcake for dessert — the cocktails and wine paired wonderfully with it all. Every dish was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the ambiance was lively. It really is the blueprint of a neighborhood San Francisco restaurant that focuses on fresh, local, and high-quality ingredients.

It’s always an outstanding dining experience…
The vibes and the food are incredible at Mister Jiu’s. We obviously got the Peking duck, which is a showstopper and a must-order if you go (you have to preorder it in advance!), and the mapo silken tofu, which is a favorite — it packs a spicy punch but it’s so good.

Because cocktails and pizza…
… have become a time-honored San Francisco tradition. And DamnFine is the latest stellar entrant into this recent genre of neighborhood staple. Whether you’re going for the seasonal specials (stone fruit! strawberries!) or the menu standbys, it’s always a good time.

All hail…
… the maitake kale pie at Angie’s Pizza. It was so yummy, and I loved the texture and flavor of the mushrooms. The cauliflower was also super flavorful and tender.

We can’t wait to go back…
… to Vina Enoteca in Palo Alto. The service was phenomenal — our server answered every one of our questions in great detail and expertly coursed out the meal. The cocktails, wine, and food were all amazing and really shone a light on seasonal produce from the local area. We were there to celebrate a birthday and the staff went the extra mile with a special dessert. We finished on a great note thanks to the sommelier, who recommended two delicious dessert wines to go with our chocolate tart.
