Four Things In NYC Not to Miss This Month
- For the Wine Minded: Learn how to pair wines with South Asian cuisine over at Cheeni on Nov. 5, or head to Nerina that same day for a five-course tasting menu paired with Peloponnesian wines from Greece. On Nov. 8, join Ruffian in Industry City for a special wine fair celebrating wines from the Republic of Georgia. On Nov. 17 at Maison Pickle, they’re pairing American pinot noir with a three-course menu. And on Nov. 21, Le Gamin is hosting a tasting of five different wines from Bordeaux, snacks included. More wine inspiration here.
- Crosstown Collabs Galore: We love it when some of our favorite chefs get together, and this month is packed with collaborations. On Nov. 11, Sergeantsville Inn chef Sean Gray joins his fellow Momofuku Ko alums Nick Tamburo and Nikita Malhotra at Smithereens to celebrate Smithereens’ first anniversary. On Nov. 12, London’s Padella stops by Jupiter for a pasta-filled lunch. On Nov. 15, Austin’s Fermin Nuñez (Suerte, Este) stops by Alex Stupak’s Empellón for special Tex-Mex dinner. On Nov. 17, Marea’s PJ Calapa joins Max Wittawat in the kitchen at Bangkok Supper Club, while Ed Szymanski (Dame, Lord’s) joins Chris McDade at Gus’s for a five-course dinner with wine pairings. And on Nov. 20, roving Filipino American pop-up Solo Diner stops by Sixty Three Clinton to join chef Samuel Clonts for a one-night-only menu. More collabs here.
- New on Resy: Peak fall restaurant opening season continues, and that means plenty of new restaurants to check out. Some on our radar include Third Time’s the Charm, a pizzeria and bar in Red Hook from pizza pop-up Bad Cholesterol; Cuna NYC, a modern Mexican stunner from critically acclaimed CDMX chef Maycoll Calderón; and Arvine, a new fine-dining spot in the West Village led by a veteran of Gabriel Kreuther and Restaurant Daniel. Head here for all the latest new openings in New York.
- Thanksgiving in the City: While you could host Thanksgiving at home, those of you who want to dine out for the holiday are more than in luck. For Thanksgiving with a scenic view, head to Celestine. For a splurge-worthy, fanciful affair preceded or followed by a visit to legendary Bemelmans Bar, might we suggest Dowling’s at The Carlyle? For a four-course Levantine feast, head to Frena. For a five-course Italian family-style feast, it doesn’t get much better than Il Buco. And if you really want to spend the holiday at home, there’s always Kru’s excellent Thai Thanksgiving at home package with everything from slow-cooked curry-rubbed ribs to Thai-style American fried rice. More feasts await here.
