Alisha Miranda

Philadelphia Contributor

Alisha is a multimedia journalist, digital producer, and cultural connector. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the Hudson Valley, Alisha lived and worked in New York City before making Philadelphia her home in 2015 (Go Birds!). Her parents raised her to revere restaurants (and to never order off the kids’ menu), value home cooking, and always put respect on hospitality workers’ names. She’s obsessed with telling meaningful stories and believes the best reporting is rooted in community, visibility, and a never-ending curiosity for “how things really work” behind the scenes. Food and hospitality are the lens through which she talks about people, legacy, and holding space for underrepresented perspectives.

Fun Facts

  • Lives in
    South Philly.
  • Drink of choice
    A Negroni (3-2-1 specs) or a Paloma.
  • Restaurant you’ve been to the most
Find me at a.kitchen+bar, The Good King Tavern, Messina, Middle Child Clubhouse, and Royal Izakaya.
  • Favorite food movie
    “Chef” or “Marie Antoinette.”
  • Best high-low pairing
I’m from Philly, so a Spaghett or Citywide always hits the high-low mark for me.
  • Your Ratatouille moment
Puerto Rican and Dominican luncheonette meals in The Bronx with my family, post-grocery shopping at Western Beef Supermarket. That cocina criolla is what I keep chasing.
  • Pro tip for diners
Dine out solo for the best seat at the bar or open kitchen counter.
  • Last meal on earth
I’m allergic to shellfish, so I’d like to go out on the most luxurious seafood tower.
