The Resy Guide to New York’s Best Round Tables for Group Dining

At Moono, the details are just as precise, and the food is just as delicious as it is at its predecessor, Michelin-starred JUA. Don’t skip the Pyongyang cold noodle soup, the galbi-jjim, and the beef hot pot. It’s a bit more casually comfortable than JUA, so feel free to settle into those minimal wooden round tables that dot the dining room for the chosen few.

Yum khai dao (fried duck egg, trout roe, and herbs salad), prawn satay, and beef cheeks massaman from the team behind Fish Cheeks? Don’t mind if we do. Sweeten the pot a little with their cozy round tables that back up to green velvet banquettes and you’re set for an evening to remember.

Slurp your cold sesame noodles and elbow for the chance to try that BDSM chicken at Wenwen’s only round table, right in the front underneath those big, bright windows. It’s perfect for people watching with a group of six, with a Bird’s Eye Daiquiri in each hand, preferably.

You can trust the team behind Frenchette with many things, dinner at Le Rock being our favorite. Indulge in sweetbreads and spiced duck with braised endives, leeks vinaigrette, and many other elevated dishes from our favorite tables in the place – the round ones in the center and corners of the dining room.

Chi Restaurant and Bar nails the round table experience. They’re dark marble, with half banquette and half chair seating, plus that pièce de résistance, the lazy Susan, right in the center. Go for the ma-la trio and the beef tendon with caviar, and the abalone with XO sauce.

At Bonnie’s, you’ll want to try everything. How can you choose between the chrysanthemum green salad, the shrimp with candied walnuts and Kewpie mayo, the pork floss congee, the char siu “BKRib” … need we go on? At their front-and-center round table, you’ve got one very important addition: a lazy Susan. So, share away, no “pardon my reach” required.

One of our favorite spots in Carroll Gardens just happens to have a lovely wood-lined booth that ensconces, you guessed it, a big round table. It’s a smaller restaurant overall, so earning this spot feels like a true coup. Enjoy your ricotta gnudi, duck fat potatoes, and yellow cake in style.

The round tables here are big, with room for all your closest friends and distant acquaintances. Greywind further solidifies our belief that the only good reason to be caught in Hudson Yards is for a dinner reservation, with their rotisserie half chicken and chiles, diver scallops with ‘nduja, and homemade “cheez-its.”

Gus’s gives a taste of old glamour at an unassuming Carroll Gardens spot. It’s tucked away in a fashion that may lead you to believe it’s nothing special but trust us when we say you’d be wrong. The round tables toward the back are half chairs, half booths, perfect for sharing pork chops, creamed spinach, and soda potato rolls with herbed butter.

At New York’s French restaurant of the moment, one of our (and owner Cody Pruitt’s) favorite tables is the round one near the kitchen. You can people watch, sip your entirely French wine from the all-natural list, and chow down on oeuf mayonnaise and saucisse purée. Luckily, if you can’t snag that one, all the tables in the restaurant are a perfectly round bistro size, too.

We could have filled this list entirely with the city’s wonderful Chinese restaurants, but we showed restraint; as you know, many of them know the value of a good, big, round table. Hwa Yuan’s are for sharing wontons with chili oil, sliced conch, Beijing duck, dry sautéed tangy crispy beef, and Hong Kong-style stir-fried crab. Oh, and those famed sesame noodles, too.

Who doesn’t love a party in the Caribbean? At Kokomo, it’s no passport required, with big round tables perfect for sharing their tropical cocktails, oxtail flatbread, island pasta, and fried plantains.

This Park Slope pasta restaurant is bright and comfortable, with cheerful service to match. All of the tables are good here, but we’re partial to the large round ones as they make it easier to grab a bite of lamb sugo, whipped ricotta, and cacio e pepe from your unsuspecting dinner guests. Keep a lookout for which pasta shape of the day you’ll get when you go.

Rolo’s is worth the trip, no matter which borough (or state) you’re coming from. Sink into their retro round table, situated on a raised part of the floor with a near wraparound red banquette. We’re partial to their variety of wood-fired polenta breads, that famed double cheeseburger, and that two-sheet lasagna.

No matter the season, you’re set for a round table at Fairfax. They’ve got a rare amount of them outside as well as inside, where you can watch the West Village go by to your heart’s content. Go for the Old Bay tots and that much-beloved Bar Sardine burger.

NR has several lovely round, wooden tables with the chairs to match. This low-lit, 19th-century Japan inspired spot is always cozy, but we like it best when we order pork buns, Wagyu bone marrow ramen, and chicken curry.

There are a few larger round yellow tables at Potluck Club with our favorite table accompaniment: lazy Susans. Enjoy your jellyfish tiger salad, xo fried rice, and curry tofu without having to worry about spilling on your friends as you reach across their plates.

Blue Willow’s round tables are perfect and plentiful, with white tablecloths and bright red napkins, and a glass lazy Susan in the center. There’s plenty worth sharing here, but we’d go for the Shanghai shumai, century egg salad, squid and chives, and grandma’s rice noodles, just to start, of course.

The plush banquettes surrounding the round tables in the back of Torrisi’s main dining room are highly covetable for many reasons, the primary one being all the excellent people watching they afford you as you feast on Torrisi’s pitch-perfect renditions of Italian American and New York classics. Pro tip: Do not sleep on the tortellini pomodoro or the tuna with pickled caponata.
