By

In a strong year for dining, what were the absolute standouts?  We asked our contributors to the Resy Hit List to share their top 10 dining experiences from this year in their city — restaurants and meals that left an impression, and helped to define the state of American dining right now. Please welcome back our Best of The Hit List for 2022. (You can find other cities’ top picks here.)

Dining out in Washington, D.C. came with no shortage of surprises this year. As restaurants and bars reopened to full capacity, we saw exciting swells of dine-in reservations, plus new and exciting menus, buzzy openings, and the return of stalwarts that hit a temporary pause during the pandemic. Even with issues surrounding staffing, inflation, and the supply chain, restaurants stood resilient and ready to offer great dishes and hospitality to our nation’s capital. That might have come in the form of the Roman-Tokyo mashup of Tonari, or the food-hall brilliance of Le Fantome, or so much more.

Without further ado, please welcome our highlights of 10 favorite spots, the ones that defined dining and drinking in D.C., as we close out another memorable year.
