Four Things Not to Miss in New York This Month
- Passover Plans: Kubeh, Gertrude’s, Bubby’s, and Mile End Delicatessen are hosting special Passover seder dinners this month. At Kubeh, they have a three-course dinner on April 1 and 2. At Gertrude’s on April 1, they’re hosting a special seder with rabbi Matt Green of the Center for New Jewish Culture. And on April 1 and 2, Bubby’s and Mile End Delicatessen are both serving special self-led Passover seders. From April 1 to 9, K’Far Brooklyn and Laser Wolf Brooklyn have Passover specials that include everything from za’atar spiced half chicken to pastrami plates. You can also pre-order Passover packages from 12 Chairs Cafe Soho and Williamsburg, and all locations of Miriam, in addition to enjoying Passover specials at the restaurants, too.
- Brunch to Your Heart’s Content: It’s never not brunch season in New York, but this month yields some especially good ones you don’t want to miss. We’re talking Saturday drag brunch and bingo over at Dirty French New York. The pancakes worth waiting for from Golden Diner and Chez Ma Tante. The dim sum spreads at Nom Wah Tea Parlor and Hutong New York. Or consider the fanciful Easter brunches you’ll find at spots like Restaurant Daniel, Maison Passerelle, and Cosme. Check out our guide to brunch in NYC for even more suggestions.
- Notable New Openings: Get into these spots before everyone else catches on. We’re talking Dean’s, the new British pub from the team behind King and Jupiter. There’s also Balera, a coastal Italian spot from a quintet of hospitality veterans who hail from Italy. For cocktails, do consider Highball Ltd. and Kees, both from Please Don’t Tell’s (PDT) Jeff Bell. For pizza, there’s Sama Za from the team behind Same Same Wine Bar. And for Indian food, there’s Ambassadors Clubhouse New York, of course, but also, Kidilum and Malvan. For all the latest openings, check out our weekly updated list here.
- Pop-Ups of Note: Set a Notify for the Easter weekend pop-up taking place at Forsythia on April 4 and 5 when they host 180g Pizza’s Jacopo Mercuro for lunchtime specials. Experience all things dashi on April 8 and 9 when renowned Japanese dashi brand Kayanoya pops up at Lingo for a bar experience that includes a dashi flight, dashi-inspired small plates, and a collaborative cocktail. Also on April 8, Kiko chef Alex Chang welcomes “Top Chef” winner Mei Lin (88 Club, Nightshade). On April 14, Fish Cheeks Williamsburg and Miss Ada join forces for an unforgettable mashup of Thai and Mediterranean flavors in commemoration of Songkran, the Thai New Year. And lastly on April 24, Cuna at The Standard East Village welcomes chef Yara Herrera of Hellbender, for a one-night collab honoring Mexican culinary traditions. Find more pop-ups and events here.
