Nicole A. Taylor

Editorial Contributor

Nicole is a James Beard Award-nominated food writer and editor. She is the author of “Watermelon & Red Birds: A Cookbook for Juneteenth and Black Celebrations,” the very first cookbook to celebrate Juneteenth. Her southern drawl often fools people into believing she’s just an expert on biscuits and creamy grits, but Nicole’s bank account is multiple swipes between a restaurant and a cafe — from lasagna inspired by the Emilia-Romagna region to housemade flour tortillas stuffed with chicken mole. Currently, she is working with a restaurant group on the visual, textural, and atmospheric elements of its spaces, ensuring storytelling is intentional. Nicole grew up in the American South and has lived in New York City for two decades.
