Outside of Korea (and conceivably Los Angeles), the New York city area lays claim to one of the most vibrant and diverse Korean dining landscapes in America. Getting to this point didn’t happen overnight, however.
In the 1960s, after the removal of the U.S.’s European-favored immigration policy, Korean immigrants came to New York, making it one of the largest Korean American communities in the country. Koreatowns in Queens and Manhattan were bastions of Korean comfort food, with huge menus that aimed to satisfy all cravings.
