The 10 Restaurants That Defined Dining in D.C. This Year

By

We asked our contributors to the Resy Hit List to share their top dining experiences in their cities this year — 10 restaurants that are helping to define the state of great dining right now. Please welcome back our Best of The Hit List for 2023. (You can find other cities’ top picks here.)

In 2023, Washington, D.C. made a strong a case as ever to be America’s dining capital, and not just its capital — thanks to a critical mass of critically acclaimed restaurants, star-powered chefs, and a hospitality community filled with diverse talent.

Look no further than Perry’s, an old-school restaurant transformed this year by the talents of Chef Masako Morishita, or the jaw-dropping vibes delivered straight from Mexico by El Presidente and the Stephen Starr team.

This was also a big year for restauranteur Rose Previte who debuted her latest bar and restaurant Medina, and a namesake cookbook honoring her Lebanese heritage and Michelin-starred restaurant Maydan.

There is no doubt our nation’s capital continues to lead as a global power in dining. And so it’s time to highlight the 10 restaurants that defined eating and drinking for us in the District, as we close out another memorable year and look forward to 2024.
