The 10 Restaurants That Defined New Orleans Dining This Year

By

We asked our contributors to the Resy Hit List to share their top dining experiences in their cities this year — 10 restaurants that are helping to define the state of great dining right now. Please welcome back our Best of The Hit List for 2023. (You can find other cities’ top picks here.)

It was another strong year for dining in New Orleans. It was also one for change as the post pandemic sloughing off continued with heartbreaking closures, notably Tava (already) and Marjie’s Grill (later this month) as others opened to take their places. Notable this year are the deepening ties to reliable favorites such as Commander’s Palace, Gautreau’s, and Dooky Chase.

In the city’s tradition of welcome, newcomers were embraced across all price points at Chicken’s Kitchen and Francolini’s Italian Deli, and ethnicities at Osteria Lupo and Dakar, where both the menu and the narrative are deeply personal.

These 10 were the restaurants that most resonated with how we’re dining right now in the city. Now’s the time to get out and enjoy them.
