Public Records’ off-beat take on an Irish coffee combines the traditional flavors of Irish whiskey with our house blend coffee (made with beans shipped here from our friends at Marseille’s Deep Coffee Roasters). The bittersweet notes of Mr. Black Wheat Vodka Coffee Liqueur and the smokey rhubarb and orange peel notes of Sfumato Amaro bring a singular depth to this usually two-note hot beverage. The cream floating on top is vegan, as is our entire bar, restaurant, and cafe menu.
1 ounce Jameson Irish Whiskey
1/4 ounce Mr. Black Wheat Vodka Coffee Liqueur
1/4 ounce Amaro Sfumato Rabarbaro
4 ounces hot drip coffee
Coconut cream, to taste
Fresh ground nutmeg
Combine Irish Whiskey, Mr. Black, and Amaro in a tempered glass mug. Add the drip coffee, leaving an inch at the top of the glass.
Warm a spoon over boiling hot water for a minute to get it hot. Place the spoon over the glass and slowly pour the coconut cream over the back side of the spoon into the glass. Garnish with fresh ground nutmeg.
