Jean Trinh

Los Angeles Contributor

Jean is a James Beard Award-nominated writer whose stories have been featured in publications like Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and Food & Wine. She’s been writing about the intersection of food, culture, and arts for over a decade, covering everything from where to get the best salted egg yolk and Chinese doughnut dishes, to deep dives on the history of Basque cuisine and Southern California’s Vietnamese seafood boil scene. With a soft spot for going on food adventures, she’s enjoyed ramen on the top of Mount Fuji and spent months on a cross-country road trip feasting on Southern barbecue. A Chinese-Cambodian American who grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, she started eating well from a young age and still loves her parents’ homemade dishes like Hainan chicken rice, Chinese zongzi, and Cambodian nom banh chok.
