Four Things In Dallas-Fort Worth Not to Miss This Month
- Spooky Szn: Whether the end of this month means scary porch decorations or setting up an ofrenda, find plenty of opportunities to get in the spirit. Beginning Oct. 29, Barons Creek Vineyards’ McKinney tasting room will host Welcome to Hellhaven for a night of mystery-solving and wine. Messina Hof Grapevine Winery gets in on Clue-like cosplay on Oct. 30, with $78 tickets that include a three-course dinner. Elsewhere, Don Artemio invites guests to a family-style Día de los Muertos dinner, led by chef and scholar Ricardo Muñoz Zurita on Oct. 28. For an agave-forward celebration, head to Ayahuasca Cantina on Oct. 30 for a Día de los Muertos fiesta. For a pre-Halloween party treat, head to Walloon’s on Oct. 31 for a $10 burger that comes with an optional $1 martini. Also that evening, Champions Social Club is calling all Dr. Frank-N-Furters to a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” tasting dinner.
- Arts and Crafts: October is a fine month to get artsy-craftsy, beginning Oct. 15 with a pumpkin paint-and-sip at the Bishop Arts location of Barons Creek Vineyards. On Oct. 19, the vineyard’s McKinney tasting room will guide attendees in making their own custom-poured, fall-themed candle to take home. Or for a night of succulent-planting and tarot card-reading (plus drink flights), head to Halcyon Dallas on Oct. 23.
- Wine and Dine: The Stoneleigh Hotel’s Lions Den will host an extravagant multi-course dinner inspired by some of chef Michael White’s signature restaurants (Santi, MIKA, etc.) on Oct. 7. The $850 tickets include some of chef’s favorite wines from Piedmontese star Gaja. On Oct. 9, sake enthusiasts will want tickets to Hiro’s Kitchen Sushi & Sake’s unique nine-course French-Japanese dinner — featuring bluefin tuna steak, spiced chicken breast confit, and sushi paired with Tatsuriki sake selections from the famed Honda Shoten brewery in the Hyogo Prefecture.
- Coming Attractions: Fort Worth has more than a few new restaurants on the horizon, beginning with Piattello Italian Kitchen’s relocation to Clearfork this fall. In addition, the Cultural District will soon have its own Partenope Ristorante, the Neapolitan pizza-powerhouse by Naples-born pizzaiolo Dino Santonicola. We’re also expecting the imminent opening of Public Market Café & Goods, the first installment at the historic landmark before chef Jenna Kinnard unveils her Madrone restaurant and cocktail bar, Willow.
