Six Things Not to Miss in New York This Month
- Be a Good Sport: Those of us who love watching sports and enjoying a good meal or drink are in luck this month, with so many sporting events taking place. Many bars and restaurants across the city are hosting viewing parties, including Black Forest Brooklyn in Fort Greene and Cobble Hill; Mason Jar; Jones Wood Foundry; The Lavaux, Swiss Wine and Fondue Bar; Le Bilboquet NY; OCabanon; Ribalta; Golden HOF – Korean Bar & Grill; Printers Alley; Kabin; and Alma Negra, to name a few. And don’t forget sports bar stalwarts like Red Lion, Rocco’s Sports & Rec; Amity Hall; Birdie’s Sporting Club; The Copper Still – East Village; White Horse Tavern; and Phebe’s Tavern & Grill.
- Commemorate Juneteenth: Long Count is hosting a special Juneteenth dinner commemorating a new chapter of the restaurant on June 18. Get your tickets here. And do support your local Black-owned restaurants every day.
- A Can’t Miss Pop-Up: Do make a reservation for Boro Brine on Monday, June 29, when critically acclaimed chef Melissa Miranda of Seattle’s Musang joins chef Mark Nobello in the kitchen for an epic collaboration in celebration of a Filipino culture. Expect a 10-course tasting menu with everything from lumpia-stuffed chicken wings to kilawin made with flank steak and calamansi.
- Celebrate Pride: This Pride month, show your support for queer-owned and -led bars and restaurants. Attend a Pride movie night at Bibliotheque on Monday nights. Toast to Pride with some exceptional cocktails in the equally exceptional Red Room Bar on June 18.
