Neighborhood vibes hit the mark at Highway Restaurant & Bar, the New American restaurant on the border of Wainscott and East Hampton. It’s totally the place you want to eat at every day of the week, even if you’re only there on weekends. Add that it’s open year-round and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Chef Anand Sastry, previously of Troisgros in France, Harveys Restaurant in London and private chef to King Hussein of Jordan, is in the house. His menu feels like a great summer playlist, with range for days. Here are the top 5 things to order at Highway:

1/ Crispy Cod Tacos: Crispy cod served atop of a soft shell taco, and then dressed with salsa verde, guacamole and pickled red onion.

2/ The Linguine with Fresh Local Clams: Local seafood is what it’s all about in the Hamptons.

3/ BBQ St. Louis Ribs: Served with local sweet corn, cole slaw and their house made bbq sauce, this dish screams “4th of July weekend!” Slow roasted in the oven and finished to order on a charcoal grill: U.S.A., U.S.A.!

4/ Spit Roasted Organic Chicken: Say hello to a Highway classic. This stunner is generously seasoned with sage, rosemary, garlic, olive oil and tamari. It arrives at your table on their signature board with homemade stuffing and a local sweet corn and tomato sauté.

5/ The Highway Ice Cream Sandwich: This sandy is made with a house made chocolate biscuit, vanilla ice cream, candied hazelnuts and drenched in a caramel sauce. If you hate summer, you’ll really hate this guy.

Bonus/ Weekend barman, Mark Noonan of the award winning Nomad Bar in NYC, has helped create a new menu of craft cocktails for the summer season. Try the Saggaponack Sling with white rum, honeydew melon, lemon, a touch of sugar and angostura bitters.

There you have it, the top 5’s at your service. Grab a seat rn.
