Champagne Bollinger & Resy Introduce Le Grand Dîner
This spring, iconic Champagne producer Bollinger will celebrate the highly anticipated release of La Grande Année (2008) with Le Grand Dîner, a traveling dinner series spanning New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Bollinger’s unrivaled craftsmanship in the vineyard and cellar creates Champagnes with a signature complex style: the House is widely recognized for creating wines that pair brilliantly with food. Chefs Ryan Hardy (Legacy Records, New York), Curtis Stone (Maude, Los Angeles), and Debbie Gold (Tied House, Chicago) have been hand-selected for Le Grand Dîner because of their like-minded obsessive and rigorous approaches in the kitchen. Each dinner will illuminate La Grande Année with dishes that complement it best, from grilled fish and roasted lamb, to classic foie gras and fresh Comté.
2008 is a Champagne vintage that has generated extensive praise from critics and collectors, and 2019 marks the year in which Bollinger, known for extended aging, will pour its prestige cuvée for the first time—more than a decade after its harvest. La Grand Année is made of roughly two-thirds Pinot Noir, the backbone of all Bollinger wines, and one-third Chardonnay. The wine, which has already received 97+ from Wine Advocate, ferments entirely in oak barrels and undergoes its second fermentation under cork instead of crown capsule. On the nose, you’ll find honey, gingerbread, and cinnamon, while pastry and candied orange flavors dominate the palate with a creamy effervescence.
