Ten Restaurants Not to Miss in the Twin Cities This Year

By and

Looking back, it seems like 2023 could be the year that the Twin Cities’ restaurant scene really got its groove back. Two of our biggest chefs — Daniel del Prado and Ann Ahmed — opened what could arguably be the buzziest local restaurants in a while (Porzana and Gai Noi, respectively). Other young guns, like Owamni by the Sioux Chef, Mara, and Billy Sushi, kept growing in popularity and acclaim.

Put them on your dining must-do list if you haven’t yet. For that matter, don’t overlook longer-tenured spots that only seem to get better as they get older — like Bar La Grassa, Young Joni, and Meritage. Tables are still hard to come by at all of them (although easier in January, if you want a pro tip).

All have helped to make our cities’ culture better. And as we move into 2024, they’re great options for a strong start to your year in dining.
