The Resy Hit List: Everywhere In L.A. You’ll Want to Eat in April 2024
There’s no question we hear more often: Where should I go eat? And while we at Resy know it’s an honor to be the friend who everyone asks for restaurant advice, we also know it’s a complicated task. That’s where the Resy Hit List comes in.
We’ve designed it to be your essential resource for dining in Los Angeles: a monthly-updated (and newly expanded!) guide to the restaurants in that you won’t want to miss — tonight or any night.
Four Things In Los Angeles Not to Miss This Month
- 45 Years of Michael’s: On April 21, Michael McCarty and team are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their Santa Monica restaurant Michael’s, a pioneering force in California cuisine. The epic lineup of culinary talent who have graced the kitchen over the years includes Jonathan Waxman, Sang Yoon, Nancy Silverton, Miles Thompson, and more, all of whom will be cooking at the event. Grab a ticket, and read up on Michael’s impressive art collection before you go.
- New to KBBQ: Origin Korean BBQ has big shoes to fill, taking over the original Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong space. So far, they’re doing an excellent job. On the menu: thinly sliced prime pork belly, garlic bone-in short ribs, and plenty more. Read about the history of the building, the handsome space, and Origin’s, well, origin, in this Resy Spotlight.
- Pop-ups In the Air. Spring is here, and pop-ups are everywhere. One particularly enticing event: Jess Damuck, the author of the cookbook “Salad Freak,” is celebrating her latest release — “Health Nut” — over brunch at Kismet. There will be shareable dishes like sesame-spelt banana bread and smashed beets with harissa and goat cheese, plus the book itself, so you can cook Damuck’s next-gen hippie food at home. And check out more Resy Events here.
- Still Itching to Try Donna’s? Or hankering for a return visit to Echo Park’s hottest red-sauce ticket? We recently checked in with the GM, who gave us some tips and tricks on how to get in. Once you’ve secured a reservation, start with a martini or a Negroni (full bar alert!) then order the shrimp scampi and the fusilli alla vodka. Be sure to save room for the Tuscan carrot cake.
