- Wings and Beer Szn: The kickoff to football season translates to more wings and beer in the American diet. Try some off-road iterations at Operators Club, where gochujang duck drumettes with jicama and kimchi are served up in a TV-centric environment, or sidle up to the bar at Claremont for fried chicken drums with the game on. If you’re interested in more home-cooking, meet Alex Snodgrass, a self-proclaimed “chicken wing-making machine,” on Sept. 20 at Bowie House, Auberge Collection, where she’ll have a book signing for her fourth cookbook, “Everyday Eats: 100 Simple and Healthy Recipes for Real Life.” Or if September has you in a “Prost!” state of mind, head to Ellerbe Fine Foods on Sept. 24 for a three-course dinner inspired by Munich’s Oktoberfest.
- Tee Up and Eat: As the outdoors slowly become inhabitable again, it’s a good time to investigate the new Dirdie Birdie in Fort Worth’s West 7th District, where full-service dining meets an indoor 12-hole mini golf course inspired by Cowtown culture. Also in Fort Worth, Stewart’s Croquet & Cocktails is a no-membership-required people’s country club that offers a martini cart, caviar bumps, double-decker club sandwiches, and hot dogs. Or, for pickleball courts and yard games with a side of impressive rotisserie chicken and fried tenders, check out the Chicken N Pickles in Allen, Grand Prairie, and Grapevine.
- ¡Viva México! Festivities: Per custom, Don Artemio will offer one of Mexico’s most celebratory and iconic dishes, chiles en nogada, from Sept. 8 to Oct. 19 this year. For the big Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16, the restaurant is throwing a party with a cigar roller, DJ, and drink specials. Over in Dallas, Puerto Cocina will also send up a grito by offering a four-course Tequila pairing dinner that evening.
