Su-Jit's Pick:
“I swear, I’ve been waiting for a place like Bar ANA all my life. It’s not uncommon for me to want to just go out for a cocktail and cake, and I don’t want to settle for tots when I want a tart. I’m excited that I no longer have to.”
This month …
We’ve got some remarkable examples of how cultural diversity enriches Atlanta’s dining scene. Get a taste of casual French finesse at a local favorite (for the ones who know), or, get blown away by technical excellence with a highly awarded pastry chef’s big debut, plus — a revamped sea-to-seat experience.
Mirae Brookhaven
New opening!
In Korean, Mirae means “future,” and this Brookhaven newcomer is manifesting one that is serene and welcoming, and integrates nature and culture. Its menu embraces that idea with dishes like pork katsu with fig gastrique and kimchi, clay pot chicken with crispy rice, or a spicy, soy-infused Korean beef tartare. The lines blur like memories at this fine dining restaurant, just as it’s intended, with flavors as gracefully amorphous and fluid as the brush stroke accents, muted colors, and textures of the space.

Ashland at Loews Atlanta Hotel Tech Square
New opening!
Steak and sushi? Don’t mind if we do. Both disciplines are united at Loews’ signature restaurant, where sourcing and quality form the cornerstones of an elegant menu that showcases premium beef and pristine, seasonal seafood. Have both raw or cooked — beef or ora king salmon tartare, or Australian Wagyu and Georges Bank scallops — in a setting that’s warm with earth tones and the glow of sunlight. Elegant cocktails make it even more worthy of a trip.
Brasserie Lundi Midtown
New opening!
After leaving Kentucky to work in some of New York’s most legendary and awarded kitchens such as Craft and Gramercy Tavern, chef Akhtar Nawab became a pioneer in the national chef-led food hall movement, most recently opening The Peacherie, in the same building as Brasserie Lundi. Nawab’s return to the heart of the South was done with great aplomb — this relaxed, modern brasserie serves French classics with a Southern drawl and communal spirit, giving escargots risotto an equal place at the table with Japanese-inspired fried green tomatoes.
M @ Umi Buckhead
New opening!
Travel up a cunningly camouflaged stairway and step into the light, bright space designed by British designers Tom Dixon and Gareth Payne for an illuminating experience by sushi master Kazuo Yoshida. Here the omakase pioneer expands expectations for his craft yet again over the course of 19 exquisite bites that vary by season and whim. Count on rare ingredients in creative preparations, plentiful uni and caviar, impeccable wine and sake pairings, and the delight of omotenashi hospitality.
Mozaika Mezze Alpharetta
New opening!
Restaurateur Okan Ozyurteri is known for showcasing the breadth of Mediterranean cuisine at sister restaurants Pasha Restaurant and Bar, Mandolin Kitchen & Shisha Bar, and Pera Bistro. Here, the focus is on seafood and flavors from Turkey, Greece, and Lebanon, with a generous selection of mezze, stone oven-baked dishes, meats served tableside, and hearty mains accompanied by specialty cocktails and wine by the glass.
Necessary Purveyor Old Fourth Ward
New opening!
When Tyler Dabestani and Nicholas Kiraly opened the original Necessary Purveyor in Miami Beach, they were chasing a simple but ambitious idea: pair the hospitality standards of fine dining with the ease and energy of a neighborhood cafe and market. By offering good food paired with great service, you’ve got a place diners want to return to. Now, Necessary Purveyor has landed in Atlanta, steadily building a following since opening in Old Fourth Ward, and the ethos is the same.
