The Best Places to Eat in Richmond, Summer 2021 Edition

By

One of the remaining pieces in the puzzle called “return to normalcy” snapped into place this spring, when Virginia lifted capacity restrictions on restaurants and bars. And Richmonders have been celebrating — heading out to favorites that have been takeout-only or on hiatus.

As if a patio wasn’t enticing enough, venues including Shagbark, Grisette, Secco Wine Bar, and Metzger Bar & Butchery offer al fresco dining. And restaurateurs are flooding Instagram with persuasive eye candy: artfully-arranged dishes highlighting local produce, straight-from-Chesapeake Bay seafood, colorful cocktails, binge-worthy desserts. In time for prime summer, our Hit List to the best of Richmond is the key to nabbing a front-row seat to it all.
