  • The QR-Based Mobile Payment Tool Helps Restaurants Be More Efficient and Allows Diners To Pay The Bill From Their Smartphone
  • Eligible American Express Card Members can use Membership Rewards® points toward their Restaurant Bill

New York – September, 2022: Resy, the hospitality technology platform owned by American Express, today launches Resy Pay™, a PCI-compliant mobile payment tool for restaurants and diners. At restaurants using Resy Pay, diners can simply scan the QR code on their table or check and pay with any major credit card linked to their Resy account, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and an American Express® Gift Card. Eligible Card Members can even use American Express Membership Rewards® points.

By enabling Pay with Points, Card Members who earn Membership Rewards® points can link their eligible American Express® Card to their Resy account and unlock the option to redeem points towards their check at a participating Resy restaurant.

“Resy Pay marries Resy’s expertise in hospitality technology with American Express’ expertise in payments and service to create a digital-first solution that benefits restaurants and diners,” says Avery Newcomb, Chief Operating Officer for Resy & American Express Global Dining Network.

“By integrating with the Membership Rewards Program, Card Members now have the choice and flexibility to redeem points when they dine out,” said Bess Spaeth, Senior Vice President, US Premium Products and Membership Rewards. “As we continue to partner and integrate our offerings with Resy, we’re thrilled to offer our Card Members the opportunity to redeem points for one of their favorite activities: dining.”

  • Resy Pay benefits for Restaurants: Providing diners with a mobile payment option helps many restaurants be more efficient. Servers don’t have to “drop a check” or “run a card” for each table, which saves time and leads to tables turning over faster.
  • Resy Pay benefits for Diners: A mobile payment option at a restaurant allows diners to simply “get up and go”, eliminating the wait time of server dropping a check, then manually processing a credit card. With Resy Pay, diners scan a QR code with a mobile phone and select their preferred digital payment method, including the option to split a check multiple ways. American Express Card Members who add an eligible Memberships Rewards® enrolled Card can choose to use points towards their check

“Resy’s commitment to restaurants has always been to create technology that enables better hospitality, and Resy Pay is a perfect example, says Chandler Stroud, Vice President of Restaurant Marketing for Resy & American Express Global Dining Network. “It helps restaurants turn tables faster and improves profitability. Diners can simply get up and go.”

Resy Pay is now available to U.S. based restaurants that use Resy OS to manage their dining room operations at no additional cost to the restaurant. Resy Pay is powered by an integration with technology company Rooam.

About American Express Membership Rewards Program
As one of the original credit card reward programs introduced in 1991, the Membership Rewards Program offers our Card Members choice and flexibility to redeem points in ways that enhance their lifestyles. Today, there are thousands of ways to enjoy points across travel, dining, shopping, entertainment and more. Through an extensive partner network, the Membership Rewards program features the most Point Transfer partners and most Pay with Points at Checkout partners than any major US Credit Card loyalty program. The Membership Rewards program has also been at the forefront of loyalty rewards and innovation, which has paved the way with several industry-first redemption technologies and partnerships. This includes the introduction of Pay with Points in 2010, Upgrade with Points offering in 2019 which allows Card Members to use points for upgraded airline seats, and a partnership with Rakuten, which allows Card Members to earn Membership Rewards points instead of cash back on purchases through ecommerce.
