The Resy Guide to Italian Restaurants, For Every Occasion

By

Ciao bella! Take a quick stroll through North Beach and you’ll quickly see that San Francisco’s Italian American culture is strong.

The first wave of immigrants arrived during the gold rush era in the mid-1800s and by the end of the century, California was home to the largest number of Italian immigrants in the United States. And of course with immigrants came their culture and food. Centuries+ old Italian institutions still stand strong in San Francisco such as Molinari Delicatessen, Liguria Bakery, Fior d’Italia, and more.

With time and talent, the scene has evolved. If we just zoom in on the last, say, 15 years, we’ll see a slew of Italian restaurants that span the spectrum from traditional to modern, from Cal-Ital to regional Italian. And they’re all taking advantage of the best of the Bay Area’s bounty of pristine produce, of course. This is your Resy Hit List of our favorite Italian restaurants in San Francisco and the East Bay, organized by occasion.
