Chef and partner Sarah Grueneberg brings a love of history and storytelling to the West Loop in the expansive Monteverde Restaurant & Pastificio dining room. FYI, the “pastificio” denotes that you’re in for a treat, as all pastas are made on site. The strands hang delicately from above the bar, awaiting your order.
Just as you’d hope to feel in a place dedicated to pasta.
Ease into the meal with the smoked fish rillette to start, and then quickly move to any of the housemade specialties, like the potato-filled zlikrofi or the beautiful simplicity of the spaghetti pomodoro.
By the way
In addition to working her magic with pasta, Grueneberg also dabbles in the craft of aging balsamic vinegar, and does so on site.
