Now Open: Nashville options for high-end Chinese cuisine have gotten a lot better with the recent opening of Choy Nashville in the former home of Tánsuŏ in the North Gulch. Consulting chef Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s in San Francisco put together the opening menu, which will be executed by executive chef Brian Griffith. Featuring Cantonese American classics like Peking-style roast duck and beef chow fun, a visit to Choy is like taking a trip to S.F. Chinatown without flying to the Bay Area.
Catch This: Fans of the upscale steakhouse vibe at Halls Chophouse will soon have a new option with the announcement of Halls Catch, currently under construction right next door. Promising whole fish offerings and unique cuts of fish, locally sourced farm offerings, as well as plenty of meat options, diners can expect the same exemplary service and elegant ambiance that has made the South Carolina-based Halls a popular date night choice in Midtown. Back-to-School Treats: Fonda on 12th is still a relative newcomer to Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood, but it didn’t take long for them to ingratiate themselves with the community. In recognition of the hard-working teachers of Nashville, the taqueria offered free desserts to any local educators who dined during the final two weeks of August, as well as ice cream treats for kids under 12 to help them get excited about returning to school.
