Take the L: In 2004, the pioneering lesbian club Meow Mix closed after nearly a decade of service on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. But it’s being revived 20 years later for an installment of The L Club, Nathálie’s once-monthly dance party benefitting LGBTQ+ organizations. Its temporary transformation to Meow Mix occurs on August 17; find your tickets here, and check the Resy Events page for more to do.
Buggin’ Out: June Bug has pressed the “$2 oysters button,” with bivalves going for said price every Wednesday after 5 p.m. You know what to do.
Jack of All Trades: On August 18, Sumiao Hunan Kitchen is inviting Jack’s Abby to take over its patio for one very beery afternoon. There will be live music, a half-dozen brews to sample from, and no shortage of spicy Hunan cuisine. What could go wrong? (Answer: nothing). Tickets here.
How Sweet It Is:Saltie Girl now has a little brother of sorts, Sweet Boy (get it?). The dessert-centric sibling sits inside the seafood restaurant and offers cookie-centric desserts including Valrhona chocolate chip cookies with sea salt and an eponymous sundae made with coconut ice cream, Chantilly, candied almonds and hot fudge. Preface that with a savory meal, of course.
