Resy Rewind Series Takes Diners on a Culinary Journey Through Time

Published:

Today, Resy announced its latest dinner series, The Resy Rewind. Five celebrated Resy chefs will recreate their most revered places and decades of dining during one-night-only events in December.

Each dining event will feature multi-course menu interpretations of periods like 1980s Italian disco or 1980s Korean karaoke bars, all while adding a personal touch and reflecting the atmosphere with musical accompaniment and decorations. Optional beverage pairings are available, and guests will receive a custom themed keepsake remember the evening.

“I have always wanted to be able to play with this moment in time and Resy giving me the chance to experiment and inject my own spin is a chef’s dream,” said Talat Market chef Parnass Savang.

“At Resy, we strive to craft unparalleled experiences with our partners that are deeply personal to them,” said Hannah Kelly, chief marketing officer of Resy and Tock. “The Resy Rewind series is an incredible opportunity for Resy chef partners to reach back in time and connect with diners in a way that authentically reflects their vision and their own culinary stories.”

THE LINEUP

ChicagoDecember 4 – Lula Café

Lula Café chef Jason Hammel’s menu is inspired by the 1980s Naples’ Italo-Disco era.

“I see this Naples x Lula 1980 as an expression of [my father]. His promise. How he saw his identity. And ever since, my fascination with Naples has been about that part of my family. The way these pieces of culture existed and then decayed, declined.” –  Chef Jason Hammel

Los AngelesDecember 6 – Night + Market Sahm

Chef Kris Yenbamroong celebrates the glory days of his parents’ original restaurant, “Talésai the Art of Thai Cuisine,” which was an ‘80s hotspot that counted supermodels and Hollywood stars among its regulars.

“Talésai opened the same year I was born, and both of my parents were owner/operators. So, many of my earliest memories are from the restaurant. It was a place where I attempted homework in the corner booth before guests arrived, where I napped in the small office, where I hosted birthday dinners with friends.” – Chef-owner Kris Yenbamroong

AtlantaDecember 9 – Talat Market

Chef Parnass Savang turns Talat Market into a 1980s Midwestern supper club with comfort eats and a Thai twist.

“I’m really excited about the entire menu because it’s like a journal entry of my experience of Minnesota up to this point. At Talat, we don’t usually cook with butter but during this dinner butter is king – it’s so full of dairy and gluten, which is why it is a very fascinating and fun experiment to mesh them together.” – Chef Parnass Savang

Washington D.C.December 10 – Anju

Anju chef Angel Barreto celebrates two iconic contributions of Korean hospitality: the pojangmacha (street food tent) and the noraebang (karaoke bar) – all with a 1980s flair.

“We’re excited about the design and layout of the space, of having a tent built on our patio. It’ll be great to see guests walking in and immediately be handed a paper cup with a rice cake and fish cake skewer in a savory broth, one of the hallmarks of these menus.”  – Chef Angel Barreto

New YorkDecember 11 – Borgo

Borgo pays homage to famed chef and cookbook writer, Richard Olney, with a dinner conjuring a 1950s Provençal French vineyard.

“I have all his cookbooks, including most of his Time of Life books. I’ve always been inspired by how he writes about food and his approach. It inspired the Diner Journals, it inspired everything.” – Chef Andrew Tarlow
