A Letter from the CEO
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires in Los Angeles. Especially all our friends and partners in the restaurant industry as they navigate closures, displacements, grief, and uncertainty.
January is already an extremely difficult month for restaurants. One in which many of them struggle simply to make ends meet.
But when Los Angeles neighborhoods were first devastated by the wildfires, local restaurants like Kismet, Linden, and The Benjamin showed up for their community, helping others in this challenging time, feeding first responders and displaced families.
In light of this heartbreaking loss, Resy and its sister company Tock are committing a combined $200,000 to World Central Kitchen, an organization that is on the frontlines with chefs, restaurants, and food trucks, providing meals and immediate relief across the region. In addition, The American Express Foundation is committing a total of $500,000 to organizations, including the American Red Cross, International Medical Corps, and World Central Kitchen. These groups have mobilized to provide emergency shelter for displaced community members, health services, and meals. In addition, alongside our longstanding partner Hilton, American Express is committing $2 million that will go towards making 20,000 hotel room nights available at no charge to impacted people across the greater Los Angeles area.
Resy and Tock are staying close to partners and supporting them in any way we can. In addition, Resy and Tock are temporarily waiving monthly fees for all their restaurants in affected areas. For help or questions about these fee waivers, please reach out to resysupport@resy.com if you are a Resy partner, or hospitality@tockhq.com if you are a Tock partner.
We invite you to support the Los Angeles restaurant community by dining out or ordering takeout if it is safe to do so, purchasing gift cards from your favorite restaurants, and spreading the word about restaurants who are supporting the community and frontline workers.
Restaurants are not just places to grab a meal; they are cornerstones of our neighborhoods that employ countless members of our community. We’ll continue to support Los Angeles restaurants in every way we can, long after the last ember has been extinguished. Together let’s be there for our restaurants and show them the same love they show us every single day.
Sincerely,
Pablo Rivero, CEO of Resy and Head of American Express Global Dining
