Khuong Phan

Los Angeles Contributor

Khuong’s a first-generation immigrant kid who was raised by a single mom. They didn’t always have a lot, but they always had great meals. Some of his earliest and most favorite memories are of his mom toasting star anise for pho and making filling for cha gio. Khuong began his career as a newspaper reporter in his home state of Florida, working everything from sports to the cops and crime beats. He moved to NYC during those halcyon times we call the aughts, and has spent the last almost-20 years working as a branding and comms pro in the lifestyle and culture spaces, with a core specialty in gastronomy. He’s been very fortunate to have cobbled together a career in food that’s spanned cuisines and locations, from down-home casual to super soigné. Los Angeles is his home now, and he loves dining out with his all-time favorite tablemates: his wife and son.
