The 2023 Resy Guide to New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles

By

Between gift-wrapping and holiday checklists, you might’ve forgotten that New Year’s Eve is a mere two weeks away. And there’s plenty to celebrate as we wrap up this year and look ahead to the next. So, whether you’re looking to go big with a caviar-laced meal or just keep it casual with some bubbles, we have you covered for every occasion.

Find even more options for New Year’s Eve and beyond here.

Pregame with a celebratory drink…

Set the mood at any one of our favorite cocktail destinations, like La Dolce Vita, where you can sip a martini the Rat Pack would approve of; Juliet to feel like you’ve been whisked away to Paris; or Madre Mezcaleria to explore a mezcal list that goes way beyond margs. If none of that’s your jam, kick it old-school at The Galley, Santa Monica’s most beloved dive instead.

Seal the deal: Finally become a regular…

New Year’s Eve is a fine time to support your local favorites—the tried and true neighborhood gems that have kept you happy and fed all year long. Terroni is always the right call for its failsafe Southern Italian cooking; so, too, is the long-running Gasolina in the Valley, Market in Venice; and Silver Lake’s favorite lesbian bar, The Ruby Fruit.

Or dress to the nines and go all out…

At Camphor, where Michelin-starred chefs Max Boonthanakit and Lijo George are whipping up a four-course menu for $275 per person, complete with truffle and caviar add-ons and a midnight toast. Expect nouveau takes on French classics, done with a decidedly global twist, in a gorgeously minimalist space decked out with lots of marble and gold—a fittingly decadent room in which to ring in the new year.

If that’s not your vibe, chef Curtis Stone is cooking up a 10-course tasting menu for the night at Maude, also with truffle and caviar (we’re sensing a theme). Not far away, L’Restaurant at L’Ermitage is hosting chef Christophe Émé (Ortolan, Kass) for a very special dinner.

Or go all out and not break the bank…

Cobi’s, Santa Monica’s perpetual Southeast Asian hotspot, is breaking out the Champagne—but not the bank—with their New Year’s Eve Soiree, at $95 pp. Celebrate amongst the flowers in the lavishly appointed space, with a family-style tasting menu highlighting old favorites and a few new specials for the night.

An alternative on the West side: a shindig at white-hot Funke in Beverly Hills, with old favorites and plenty of Champagne on hand.

And on the east: A special “Feast of the Seven Vegetables” dinner at Botanica in Silver Lake, complete with bubbles and the best of SoCal’s winter produce.

Unless you’d prefer a proper party…

In which case, direct your attention toward the Grandmaster Recorders, housed in a historic multi-level recording studio in the heart of Hollywood. Fittingly, the vinyl-centric space is offering up a six-course Italian-Australia menu accompanied by live music, and all NYE reservations include free entry to the adjoining DJ-fueled parties at the sprawling rooftop bar and Studio 71 lounge.

And if you just want to have a “normal” option.

Head to one of L.A.’s many incredible strip-mall destinations, like Jitlada for exceptional Southern Thai fare, Western Doma for Korean noodle soups and sizzling chicken, or Sinaloan-style seafood at Mariscos el Moreno. They’re an essential part of what makes eating in L.A. so magical, year after year.
