After a New York summer full of heatwaves, we’ve enjoyed getting back into the routines of New York autumn, including that best fall pastime in the city: making plans at the new, shiny cohort of restaurants.

There is a certainly a considerable smattering to choose from as Q4 business dinners pepper our calendars — and we squeeze in some face time with friends before winter sets in. To help guide your selections, let us present you with some of the new bright spots added to Global Dining Access by Resy, to which American Express premium cardmembers always enjoy exclusive access.

This latest roster celebrates selections from the Jodi Williams/Rita Sodi dynasty — in their formidable newest partnership (Commerce Inn) and as their own respective staples to the scene (Buvette and I Sodi). We also raise a glass to the emerging temple of fine dining, Al Coro, and to the ever-expanding universe of stellar Israeli restaurants in the city. Fall’s approaching fast, so get booking.

West Village

Open for over a decade now, Buvette has certainly not fallen out of favor. Tucked into the West Village, Chef Jody Williams has woven this Parisian-inspired café (also restaurant, also bar) into the very fabric of New York dining. It’s not often that you can depend on an eatery to deliver the same level of detail from breakfast into the after-hours twilight of a night out.

THE VIBE

Old-world charm that can be molded to fit any intimate occasion.

DON’T MISS

At breakfast, you won’t regret any choice of egg interpretation — steamed with prosciutto and shaved Parm is a good start. Should the pendulum have swung from breakfast to dinner, there’s no classier twist than splitting a late-night tartine with peas, basil, and fromage blanc.

I Sodi

West Village

Growing up in northern Italy with an emphasis on the family dinner, chef Rita Sodi developed a lasting reverence for the simplicity of her mother’s cooking. She brings this commitment to craft to a West Village nook with a perpetual waitlist. She also brought a variety of Negronis to suit any mood.

THE VIBE

A tiny sliver of Tuscany that makes you feel lucky to be squeezed in.

DON’T MISS

We’ve all heard about the lasagna — and we will keep talking about the lasagna. And if you’ve already been there, done that, there’s always the selection of a hand-made pappardelle with lemon and pecorino, or the paccheri in meat sauce.

The “Sodi Treatment” includes the addition of Tuscan olive oil harvested directly from her farms and shipped stateside.

One more entry here from the Sodi-Williams partnership: This latest West Village installment shifts its sights from Old World to a relatively younger early-America Shaker tavern culture. The heirloom recipes exude warmth and emphasis on craft, while still securing a spot in modern neighborhood canon.

A quaint, worn-in time capsule from the beginning years of America that somehow still finds a way to feel modern.

DON’T MISS

The shmaltzy, salty, herbed roast chicken over Yukon gold potatoes embodies the best of what any Shaker could offer.

For those wondering about the history of the milk punch (featured on the cocktail menu), know that the first recorded recipe appeared in a 1711 cookbook written by Mary Rockett.

Fort Greene

Located in the heart of Fort Greene, chef/owner Tomer Blechman offers an inviting, Israeli-inspired Mediterranean menu that incorporates local and seasonal elements built for warm reunions amongst friends. It’s a perfect for a flavor-filled, relaxing evening to round out the final days of summer.

A cozy, light, and vibrant embodiment of the neighborhood.

DON’T MISS

There are plenty of dips to be shared, and with multiple hummus iterations, you should do just that. Drag pieces of warm bread through the exceptional shakshuka and all will be well in the world.

Go quick and you might be able to enjoy the last of the summer herbs grown on the back patio atop your meal or in your cocktail.

Shmoné

Greenwich Village

With regards to Shmoné: “We will cook with what we find each morning and let the dishes seduce and delight right in front of your eyes,” is how chef Eyal Shani (of HaSalon and Miznon) puts it. It’s a threat — or promise — you can look forward to. His latest Greenwich Village outpost focuses on all things hyper-local, hyper-seasonal, hyper-flavorful, all which Eyal is wont to do. Whereas HaSalon uses its vastness to cultivate rowdy community, Shmoné excites on a smaller scale.

THE VIBE

Friendly, familial-like staff and energetic music make for a great start to the night.

DON’T MISS

Blink, and you’ll miss the latest iteration of the menu here. As a guiding principle, you will likely find the same bounty on your plate as you’d find earlier in the day at the farmers market.

Legacy Records

Hudson Yards

The team behind Charlie Bird knows how to weave together the dining elements to create a memorable meal. As Hudson Yards continues to evolve its offerings, it’s nice to know there’s a dependable choice in Legacy Records.

THE VIBE

An opulent downtown-y hot spot that’s had the ability to spread its wings (all in plain sight of far-west Manhattan).

DON’T MISS

The crudo sampler is an excellent pick (and good value) when you’re in the mood to explore. However, please understand that not much on the menu will be executed as perfectly as the lacquered duck for two (stretch it to three or four if you’re sharing).

BY THE WAY

Ada’s Place, the swanky bar above the restaurant, returns this fall if you’re in the mood for a nightcap.

Greenpoint

There will always be a place for a bistro in New York, but it never hurts to iterate. Chefs Quang Nguyen and Amanda Perdomo (formerly Wildair) have laid roots in Greenpoint, with the intention of reinvigorating the high-trafficked storefront across from McCarren Park. The Odeon and Balthazar are helpful reference points when considering the cuisine, but expect a little flair.

THE VIBE

A neighborhood restaurant with a low-key approach that respectfully pushes at the constraints of iconic brasseries.

DON’T MISS

For starters, there’s an impressive wedge salad loaded up with black-garlic ranch. When looking to the entrees, there’s something to meet everyone’s fancy — whether that be a vegan maitake mushroom tart or steak frites with salted Japanese plums. One thing is for sure, Perdomo has made a dessert menu that’s inevitable.

If you’re in the neighborhood and are struck with the spontaneous desire for a chicken sandwich, there’s a to-go window for that.

Al Coro

Chelsea

At last, the final piece of the rebirth is in place at the hallowed(ish) grounds of what used to be Del Posto. Perhaps one of the most anticipated openings of the summer, Al Coro is part of the mega-collaboration between Jeff Katz and Melissa Rodriguez that also includes Mel’s. The duo ambitiously seeks to fill the Italian fine-dining void at 85 Tenth Street, while building a new legacy.

THE VIBE

Luxe, but not stuffy. Built for special occasions.

DON’T MISS

Choose from the seven-course menu or abridged five-course menu and prepare for surprises. If desperate for a sneak peek, the team shares some menu items on social media. If history repeats, expect something in the vein of a pork cheek ragu or panelle with caviar.

Rodriguez brings her experience full circle after serving as sous chef at the original Del Posto a decade prior, and then as its final executive chef. She has a deep history at this address.
