The Resy Guide to Crab Season in San Francisco

Commercial crab season started slightly later than usual here in California, opening up right at the tail end of 2021. But you know what they say: Better late than never. And right now, when the sea creatures come from nearby surrounding waters — from right below Half Moon Bay to up past Bodega — the precious meat seems to taste that much more sweet.

Leave it to the Bay Area’s talented chefs to put their best spins on the coveted crustacean. From crab fried rice to simply steamed (and everything in between), here are some spots to get your crab on during this slightly belated, but much appreciated, season.
