New on Resy: Abacá, Old Skool Cafe, Schroeder’s Restaurant, and More

Chef Francis Ang won plaudits as Pop-Up of the Year in 2018 for his (still up) Pinoy Heritage, showcasing Filipino cuisine. Now, culinary lightning strikes again with this restaurant helmed by Ang and his wife and partner, Dian. Here, the focus is on contemporary Filipino Californian fare, like pork skewers with banana BBQ sauce, salmon kinilaw, and chorizo-stuffed squid.

Press Club’s Andrew Chun and Jan Wiginton now run this historic 1893-vintage Bavarian-style beer hall. A collection of colorful beer steins and original murals by 20th-century German artist Hermann Richter add color to the clubby dining room, where chef Paul Ortiz serves up traditional and contemporary German fare.
