The Resy Guide to Drinking Rosé in Atlanta

A patio in Italy, or Dunwoody? It’s easy to forget that you’re in the latter when you’ve posted up at Novo Cucina. Enjoy a glass of Cleto Chiarli brut de noir rosé as an aperitif with fried calamari and a chef’s salad of lettuce, fresh mozzarella, tomato, and onions dressed in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. 

There truly aren’t many more inviting places to sip a glass of Tuscan rosé than The Chastain. Whether you opt for the patio with its ample greenery or the dining room with gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows, it’s the place to get in the spirit of rosé season. A strawberry arugula salad and Georges Banks scallops in a brown butter sauce make an excellent pairing.

Black-owned wineries are rare, and Black women winemakers are rarer still. At Ms. Icey’s, you can sip Black Girl Magic rosé made by the McBride Sisters, the largest Black-owned winery in the United States. The crisp, floral wine is perfect for brunch time boozing, so try it with the fish n’ grits with a creole cream sauce.

Don’t let the brown liquor-inspired name fool you: Whiskey Bird has a killer frosé. A blend of rosé, pink guava, and grapefruit, it will cool you off even in the thick of Atlanta’s summer. Prefer a traditional glassful? They have that too, by way of Hecht & Bannier’s specimen from the Languedoc. Sip it alongside an order of the spicy tuna crispy sushi rice.

Hmm… a fruity Italian rosé from Alto Adige, or a sparkling brut rosé from Burgundy? Hopefully, that will be your hardest decision at Anne Quatrano’s hideaway, set in a former warehouse. You can’t go wrong when deciding what to eat from Quatrano’s seasonally-driven menu. Burrata with strawberries, whipped ricotta toast, and pan-seared salmon are among the standouts, but it’s all fresh and delicious.

Boone’s country club-style locale, including a terrace that overlooks the lush, green expanse of Bobby Jones golf course, is an ideal summer spot (even for non golfers). Boone’s is prepared to entertain with five types of rosés to choose from. Don’t forget to order the “full board” appetizer topped with meats, cheeses, olives, and nuts to make that rosé pop.

Rosé and seafood tend to be a match made in heaven, so Lapeer Seafood Market in downtown Alpharetta is obviously well-suited to the task. Dishes like house-cured salmon toast, and PEI mussels with lemongrass and ginger, really make those fruity notes of the Decoy rosé sing. It doesn’t hurt that the atmosphere is chicly reminiscent of a greenhouse, which creates a laidback vibe.

Spring is an intimate restaurant with a tightly curated menu to match. So, while there’s only one rosé on the wine by the glass list, you can trust that it was expertly chosen to accompany chef Brian So’s elegant dishes. The menu relies primarily on locally-sourced produce so it changes often, but you can always expect artful dishes like the white asparagus soup with king crab and the ricotta agnolotti with green garlic cream.
