Nicole's Pick:
Little Lark is a dream of a newcomer. Pizzas pay homage to the seasons, and are thin enough to fold, but with billowy, just-charred crusts (the real best of both worlds).
This month …
There are plenty of ways to enjoy Chicago’s vast dining terrain: A thoughtful new sushi venture downtown; an agave bar continues to charm in West Elsdon, and in Avondale, a beloved restaurant group’s latest venture takes flight.
The Little Lark Avondale
New opening!
When it comes to top Chicago pizza spots now, The Little Lark soars. The team behind Lardon, Union, and The Meadowlark opened the restaurant in Avondale’s Guild Row coworking complex, a natural home for this social space (complete with a lively, sun-drenched patio). The menu is approachable but reflects meticulous care, and its wood-fired, neo-Neapolitan pizzas are a dazzling display of seasonal ingredients and handmade components.

Casa Di Luigi Rolling Meadows
Roll Up By Oui South Loop
New opening!
Roll Up by Oui brings fresh perspective to Chicago’s growing sushi landscape, specializing in hand rolls and delivering them through a modern lens. More than a dozen different combinations headline the menu, which also spotlights small plates like chicken karaage and furikake fries. It’s a compilation that reads both focused and fun from a team that places an emphasis on premium ingredients.
Yasemi Modern Mediterranean River North
ROOP Chicago West Loop
This Michelin-recognized restaurant celebrates modern Indian cuisine through a refined approach to regional plates. Chef Rohit Thaledi (also of Monarch & Lion and Bar Goa) and team serve a tasting menu that transports diners across South Asia and reflects a commitment to housemade ingredients (including paneer, made weekly from hundreds of gallons of milk). Dinner packs in the flavor with options like tandoori cauliflower or Goan crab cakes, and midday is just as exciting with a Tiffin lunch service.
