Vickie An

Houston Contributor

Vickie is a Houston-based writer and editor who covers food, arts and culture, business, and innovation. Raised in a Chinese and Vietnamese immigrant household, she didn’t always appreciate the dishes set before her (she swears she didn’t know any better back then). But these days, she’s happiest with her mom’s homemade lotus root soup, a fresh-from-the-oven char siu bao from King Bakery, or nem chua — a tangy, fermented pork delicacy — from the Vietnamese deli. A journalist for more than 20 years, Vickie’s work has appeared in Time, The Washington Post, The Guardian, and Hearst Specials, among other publications. Possibly controversial food hot take: Olive Garden makes the best breadsticks.
(Don’t @ her.)
