Boia De is what you get when you combine the collective talents of two chefs trained in the kitchens of Scarpetta, Carbone, Animal, Son of a Gun, Eleven Madison Park, and The Nomad. Chefs Luciana Giangrandi and Alex Meyer have created a true delight, nestled in the middle of a shopping complex. Don’t sleep on the incredible pastas.

The student, in this case, is just downstairs from the master. This Art Deco jewel box is the perfect setting for the exquisite, vegetable-centric cuisine, driven by the talents of culinary director Alain Verzeroli, a longtime protégé of Robuchon himself.

A new definition of the Mexican restaurant experience that we’d love to see replicated pretty much everywhere: natural wines, cutting-edge cocktails, and tacos, quesadillas, tamales, and such made with heirloom corn varieties ground daily in-house — plus a DJ-curated soundtrack on vinyl.

Brooklyn cult favorite Hometown Barbecue’s Allapattah outpost continues to get love for its irresistible pulled pork, brisket, and Oaxacan chicken, plus specialties like Frito pie and pastrami bacon. Pro tip: Ease into the evening with a signature frozen Negroni.

An industry favorite, Jaguar Sun is the perfect blend of drinks like the Living Dead — a chef’s catnip blend of Haitian clairin, absinthe, lime, and Tabasco — and pasta dishes that hit all the right notes. Bucatini cacio e pepe. Tagliatelle with mushrooms and egg yolk. Strozzapreti with mussels and ’njuda. Agnolotti with corn and blue crab. It’s the kind of place where you want to come two nights in a row, even if you’re only in town for a weekend.

You’ll feel completely at home in this restaurant, housed inside a converted bungalow from the 1940s, and lovingly transformed by husband-and-wife team Ahmet Erkaya and Anastasia Koutsioukis. Together, they opened Mandolin as a showcase for Greek and Turkish cuisine from the Aegean coast, like freshly grilled fish, ali nazik, köfte, and manti.
