The 2023 Resy Guide to New Year’s Eve in Miami

By

Between gift-wrapping and holiday checklists, you might’ve forgotten that New Year’s Eve is a mere two weeks away. And there’s plenty to celebrate as we wrap up this year and look ahead to the next. So, whether you’re looking to go big with a caviar-laced meal or just keep it casual, we have you covered for every occasion.

Find even more options for New Year’s Eve and beyond here.

Pregame with a celebratory drink…

At a place that’s shaking and stirring Miami’s best: Broken Shaker. The cocktail den will be open December 31st, slinging its brand of bright and herbaceous-forward drinks, and promises to be quite the scene.

Not exactly what you’re after? The more intimate and dimly-lit bar at Jaguar Sun may be more your speed, but we can’t promise that you won’t be seduced into ordering some pasta as you sit there sipping … (We love the blue crab agnolotti, for what it’s worth.)

And if it’s natural wine, a killer soundtrack, and a 70’s minimalist Scandinavian vibe you’re after, Margot’s always got you covered.

And enact your New Year’s resolution…

Of becoming a regular at a most perfect restaurant: Maty’s. The acclaimed Midtown hit and follow-up to Itamae goes deep on the family recipes chef-owner Val Chang grew up eating in Peru, and is just the kind of place where you want to be on first-name basis with the team. Because what Maty’s ultimately serves is comfort (by way of Peru) by the spoonful — masterful cebiches and oxtail saltado included.

Or dress to the nines and go all out…

At a Michelin-starred steakhouse. Yes, we’re talking about Cote, which is outdoing itself in anticipation of the New Year with a decadent feast of prime meats, truffles, and caviar service, of course (the special butcher’s feast is particularly decadent on the 31st). Plus, a course of longevity noodles, because as any Asian grandma will tell you: the longer the noodle, the longer and more prosperous the life. Book here.

Or opt for an Italian showstopper of a night at Fiola, where there will be a very special, and very luxurious, tasting menu. Bonus: If you really want to go big, you can opt for a caviar tasting flight as well. Tickets here.

Unless you’d prefer a proper party…

Then you can head straight to Fabel, whose RSVP obligingly requests that you feel “free to dance on tables.” Expect a headliner DJ, live entertainment (of the burlesque kind), and a Mediterranean-accented prix-fixe menu. Right this way for the first and second seating.

Also consider HaSalon, because if you’ve been to one of their regular dinners, you can only imagine what their New Year’s Eve extravaganza will look like. Pro tip: Do book the second seating (starting at 8:30 p.m.) for the live DJ and ensuing festivities when the clock strikes midnight.

And if you just want to stay at home…

There’s nothing like staying in and ordering pizza. Lucky for you, Miami’s in the midst of a pizza boom, and these excellent pizzerias just so happen to offer takeout and delivery, too.

Consider Stanzione 87 for a true Neapolitan pie (classics never lie), La Natural for something more modern (white sauce, scallion, and Szechuan peppercorn, anyone?), and Harry’s Pizzeria (in Coconut Grove and Miami Beach) for some wild, California-style creations (FYI: this month’s special is a rock shrimp and chorizo pie).

Bonus: The morning after.

Whether you end up staying all night or not, you can never go wrong by kicking off 2024 deliciously. Cue Americana Kitchen at the luxe Loews Hotel, and its 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. breakfast buffet and brunch that will more than take care of you. Who said perfectly scrambled eggs aren’t the perfect way to begin the year? Cheers.
