New on Resy: Tail Up Goat, Momo Yakitori, Fancy Radish

Don’t let Tail Up Goat’s inviting café decor fool you: this Adams Morgan establishment dishes some serious plates. At the helm, Michelin-starred chef Jon Sybert shapes a Mediterranean-focused menu rife with hits, where luscious pasta is peppered with goat and uni, and bread stands as a course of its own.

“How can chicken taste this good?” is a question you, your dining companions, and everyone else who’s ever taken a bite out of Momo Yakitori’s skewers will ponder. But while chicken is king here, the yakitori don’t limit themselves: duck hearts, Japanese beef, and mushrooms, all charred on the smoky binchotan grill, are on the menu and worth a taste. Pro-tip: the charcoal-toasted marshmallow is not your regular campfire affair—order it, and thank us later.

The days of sad vegetarian eateries are long behind us. Enter Fancy Radish, a vegan establishment that nabbed a Michelin Bib and will seduce even the staunchest of carnivores. Eating out never felt so deliciously healthy.

Pappe brings a different kind of heat to 14th Street. Delight in juicy lamb kebabs, fiery vindaloo, rich vegetarian plates, and a range of beverages, from Indian whiskey, to craft cocktails and wine.

At this cutting-edge, pan-Latin restaurant, prepare to be wowed by what’s on your plate. Acclaimed Venezuelan chef Enrique Limardo creates edible paintings out of cauliflower tempura, octopus, and duck magret, inflecting them with bold and exciting flavors from the Hispanic diaspora. It’s a sensorial experience that’s bound to dazzle, with boozy libations that call back to Miami and Cuba. Drink up, and take it all in.

Antonio Ferraro dives into the regional pasta dishes of his homeland at this charming Columbia Heights haunt. Napoli Pasta Bar is a love letter to the Sorrento Coast, where supper-style plates rule and toothsome pasta are laced with everything from zucchini cream and pork meatballs to braised lamb. Also on the menu: pork scaloppine rolled up in prosciutto, octopus peppered with capers, and excellent Italian wines.

D.C. restaurateur Ashok Bajaj veers towards the Mediterranean for his Cleveland Park venture, where modern Israeli dishes show no shortage of creativity. You’ll want to bring a group to this mosaic-tiled space, to build out a sizeable feast of salatim (salad starter), pita slathered in hummus, wood-grilled kebabs, and zippy small plates. We’re partial to the charred eggplant dipped in labneh, pomegranate-glazed chicken livers, and fried cauliflower dotted with raisins.

Brown liquor takes the spotlight at this Adams Morgan establishment, where over 2,700 bottles of hand-selected scotches, bourbons, and whiskeys line the walls like coveted books. Not sure where to start? Ask the whiskey specialist at hand, order your meal from the Southern-leaning menu (read: cornmeal fried oysters, shrimp and grits, and brown butter cake), and let Jack Rose Dining Saloon take it from there.

Decked out in Moorish tiles, Spanish marble, and wood furnishings, Estadio is a beloved tapas joint steeped in Spanish roots. Here, chef Rufino Bautista executes exceptional pintxos, traditional tapas, and raciones (small entrées), alongside a curated selection of quesos and embutidos (charcuterie) that are best sampled with a group or in twos.

The James Beard Award-winning chef behind fine dining darling Rasika (that’d be Vikram Sunderam) is also behind this casual gem. Bindaas looks to the street food that chef Sunderam grew up with for an explosive menu of Indian small plates—think savory rice pancakes (uttapam), a delightful array of chaat (order the crab idiyappam, golgappa, and bhel puri), and kathi rolls.

As a self-described brasserie, High Street Cafe might make you think of mussels in white wine and juicy steak-frites. So you’ll be surprised to find that the menu at this bustling Georgetown locale leans more Latin American than French: Mexican chiles give heat to calamari, lechón tops the pizza, and the stunning kan-kan—a double-fried pork chop by way of Puerto Rico—takes center stage.
