Lyssa's Pick:
I still can’t comprehend how the Mr. OmaKase team offers such a quality omakase experience at basically the best prices in the city, but I won’t argue with it.
This month …
There’s a new neighborhood revival of a historic hangout in Palmetto Bay, an eatery-meets-épicerie with certified Kosher French fare, and globally inspired hangout in Sunset Harbor.
BEYBEY Sunset Harbour
New opening!
BeyBey returns with a fresh passport, blending its Lebanese roots with Yucatán flavors in a globe-trotting menu cooked over an open-fire grill. Part restaurant, part rendezvous, this Sunset Harbour spot was designed to feel like a home – doubling as a cultural gathering space, as much as a place to eat. Dinner here seamlessly shifts into a laid-back hangout, thanks to a comfy lounge and a breezy garden built for lingering.
Eight Bar at Maple & Ash Miami Downtown Miami
New opening!
This chic bistro on the ground floor of Maple & Ash is more low-key than it’s sister and has all the things Miami can’t get enough of: burgers, sushi and martinis. That means you don’t have to get dressed up to indulge in chef Danny Grant’s signature Eight Bar Wagyu burger with golden brown hand-cut french fries or even a 22 oz. bone-in ribeye. The vibes get vibier from day to night, and you won’t want to miss happy hour for handrolls and a mini martini.
Old Cutler Inn Palmetto Bay
New opening!
With fancy comfort fare, an airy mix of indoor-outdoor seating, and modern design that honors the past (like original wood beams), Old Cutler Inn has all the makings of a new community anchor — inspired by an old one. The owners wanted to honor the spirit of Snowden’s, Palmetto Bay’s storied local tavern from the 1920s, by opening this revival restaurant across from the historic Deering Estate. Whether you’re coming for a weeknight dinner or a special celebration, let Old Cutler Inn become your neighborhood constant.
San Lorenzo Upper Eastside
Sushi KONG Coral Gables
Maison Ostrow North Bay Village
New opening!
Chef-owner Olivia Ostrow channels her Parisian roots and Jewish tradition into something rare: an eatery-meets-épicerie that’s both haute and homey. Surrounded by the chef’s personal art collection, dining here feels like stepping into her own over-the-top glam living room. The certified-kosher French fare feels polished yet personal, and you can even purchase their housemade butters and signature sauces from the market to take home.
El Toro Loco Steakhouse Little Havana Little Havana
Arkadia Grill Miami Beach
QUINTO Miami Brickell
Fire is the heartbeat of this all-day South American spot, where the parrilla grill kisses everything from smoky cuts of meat to fresh seafood with irresistible char. Drawing inspiration from Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and beyond, the menu leans into the region’s contrasts of bold flavor with coastal freshness. Come weekends, Quinto turns it up with its Brunch de Barrio, a lively Latin feast of wood-grilled meats, ceviches, empanadas and desserts — plus bottomless drink upgrades, of course.
Salty Flame Brickell
Mr. OmaKase Downtown
Mr. OmaKase does what few sushi counters dare to: deliver world-class omakase for under $100. Its evolving 10-, 14- and 18-course menus come with surprises that go beyond raw fish (like chawanmushi or fried hamachi). The vibe is informal but still exacting, as chefs carefully assemble each piece to order, while a soundtrack of throwback tunes plays in the background. In a city where luxe sushi counters command exorbitant tabs, Mr. OmaKase focuses on craftsmanship — and leaves you feeling like you got far more than you paid for.
