The 2023 James Beard Awards are officially in the books, with a new class of America’s game-changing restaurants and chefs receiving top honors.

This year’s major categories are led by Kann in Portland, which was named the Best New Restaurant in America; Rob Rubba of Oyster Oyster in D.C., who was named Outstanding Chef; and Friday Saturday Sunday in Philadelphia, which was named Outstanding Restaurant. Regional chef winners included Justin Pichetrungsi of Anajak Thai (California), Tim Flores and Genie Kwon of Kasama (Great Lakes), and Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon of Kalaya (Mid-Atlantic)
