Nettare West Town
Newly added!
This charmer feels like a secret you want to keep. It’s part boutique bottle shop, part all-day cafe: Breakfast means gooey egg sandwiches on housemade muffins and flaky mushroom tarts. At night, it’s cocktails with pear brandy, seasonal dishes like lake trout with sugar snap peas, and cozy, jungle-chic vibes. Come for coffee, stay for everything else.
La Grande Boucherie – Chicago River North
Newly added!
Grand isn’t a misnomer, here. This slice of Paris in River North is all sparkling glass, intricate ironwork, and soft golden light. It’s showy but not stuffy, with a menu that leans toward classic French cuisine, like escargots, silky steak tartare, golden French onion soup, and scallops with just the right sear. A martini is recommended.
McWethy's Tavern Romeoville
Newly added!
Set on a golf course, this casual spot features an impressive vaulted, wood-beam ceiling, a bustling bar (complete with numerous TVs for any game), and classic cocktails. Expect tavern favorites like burgers, fish and chips, and steaks with addictive onion rings. Sit next to the window for gorgeous views of the greens.
3rd Coast Fish Bar Lakeview
Newly added!
It feels like summer dockside, even though it sits on a Lakeview corner. From the DMK Burger Bar crew, this spot has all you really need for a casual hang — the atmosphere is breezy and nautical, with picnic tables and cold beer . The menu is an East Coast-Gulf mashup with solid lobster rolls, shrimp and crawfish po’boys, and creamy chowder.
Americano Old Town Triangle
Newly added!
This stylish hotel restaurant boasts a neighborhood feel, complete with lush greenery and an expansive patio. The well-rounded menu features crowd-pleasers like smash burgers, pastas, and salads, as well as brunch time skillet cinnamon rolls and bottomless mimosas. Plus, happy hour oysters and cocktails are hard to pass up.
Restaurant Noe Barrington
Newly added!
It’s the best kind of dinner party — with an intimate space (25 seats), creative seasonal fare driven by the best local ingredients, and the only choice you have to make is whether to go with the three-course or five-course tasting menu. It’s Robert Gadsby’s first foray as chef-owner, so you can bet dishes are personal, full of inspiration, and delicious.
Milkstop La Grange
Newly added!
With a nod to the location’s dairy past, this laid-back neighborhood spot attracts locals with its vintage charm and everyday menu. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with light, while the long bar and tin ceilings set the scene. The menu runs the gamut, from quiche and fluffy pancakes in the morning to roast chicken, burgers, and famed house-cured pastrami at night.
DMK Burger Bar Lakeview
Newly added!
Dicey's Tavern – Chicago West Town
The folks behind the original Dicey’s in Nashville, as well as Chicago’s Parson’s Chicken & Fish (found in West Town, Andersonville, Lincoln Park), have brought the Dicey’s formula of crisp tavern-style pizzas, natural wines, and a spirit of fun (Girl Scout cookie cannoli! Giardiniera Tequila! Branca Menta milkshakes!) to Ukrainian Village, and you won’t want to miss it.
Dolce Restaurant & Wine Bar Westmont
Because Dolce is rustic and cozy, with live piano tunes and warm hospitality to set the mood. The seasonal menu leans into Italian staples, with dishes like pizza and meatballs, scallops with risotto, and grilled mahi-mahi with caper sauce. Pro tip: Grab a seat on the patio between 4 and 6 p.m. on weeknights for happy hour-exclusive arancini.
Community Tavern Portage Park
It’s for the community, by the community: At this local favorite, Portage Park resident chef Joey Beato offers creative seasonal dishes you’d be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. It’s beloved as much for its double cheeseburger and “Kim-cheese” fries as it is for dan dan noodles with rapini, smoked carrot dumplings, and coconut cake with togarashi caramel.
Turquoise Cafe & Restaurant Roscoe Village & Lakeview
Know that you’re in good hands: Turquoise has been serving Mediterranean fare in Chicago for over two decades. Their expertise shines in crispy zucchini fritters, imam bayildi (stuffed eggplant), and tender braised lamb, alongside a cherished all-you-can-eat brunch. Step inside for the charm, stay for the sun-drenched patio and perfectly grilled kebabs.
Monster Ramen Logan Square
Cozy like a Tokyo ramen den and with quality eats that might just make you think you’re in Japan, Monster is a must for noodle and broth lovers. Chef Katie Dong’s housemade noodles are chewy, springy, and just the right thickness to soak up the richly flavored gyukotsu-style bone broth (a southern Japanese specialty), among others.
Boonie's Filipino Restaurant North Center
The modern Filipino-American menu — born from the Boonie Foods pop-up — shines with dishes like liempo (grilled pork belly skewers), grilled whole fish of the day, and sisig. Start with the ube colada and end with an ube semifreddo ice cream sandwich (or the banana turon, which gets big raves).
void Avondale
With its warm lighting and well-worn wood accents, this Italian American spot will make you feel right at home — as will the tuned-up versions of familiar staples like shrimp scampi and chicken parm, not to mention a signature pasta, “Spaghetti Uh-Os,” a vodka sauce pasta dish that transforms a childhood favorite into culinary art. You’ll want to make this a regular spot — cocktails like the tomato-infused Gibson highlight seasonal ingredients.
Casa Tulum South Loop
This South Loop treasure evokes the spirit of the Riviera Maya with its stylish beachy vibe — you’ll sip margaritas and cocktails served in coconuts beneath glowing fish lamps. You can’t go wrong ordering from the seafood-forward menu, with highlights like barrio tacos and whole fried red snapper. You’ll want to save room for the show-stopping dessert: a molten lava cake in the form of a chocolate skull, served with ice cream and dubbed the Flame of Tulum.
Siam Thai Eatery Chicago South Loop
This follow-up to Siam Thai’s original New York City locations brings contemporary takes on Thai favorites to the South Loop, in an elegant setting defined by graceful arches and greenery cascading from the ceiling. Larb tartare made with filet mignon and topped with an (optional) egg yolk, is an essential, or snack on a Siam platter with dumplings, chive cakes, and chicken satay.
Ryota West Loop
The team behind the buzzy Thai restaurant The Oliang turns to Japan with this West Loop spot, offering a flexible menu of sushi choices, including special chef-chosen selections, plus Tokyo-style ramen and brothless mazemen-style noodle dishes. It’s a great stop for Thai tea and specialty coffee drinks, too.
Proxi West Loop
Everything about Andrew Zimmerman’s West Loop spot is sleek and lively, from the chef’s counter and bustling dining room to the happy hour (one of the best in town). Vibrant Southeast Asian flavors accent the menu, including a chilled seafood tower with gochujang cocktail sauce and lemongrass aioli, whole fried fish served with a tangle of fresh herbs, and Wagyu beef cheeks with panang curry. There’s lots to share, so bring a group.
Amor y Tequila Roscoe Village
All of the classics are here (flavorful pozole, tacos, ceviche, queso) but the molcajetes are the real showstoppers. There’s a surf-and-turf option filled with grilled meat and shrimp, and another filled with vegetables — each is topped with melting panela cheese and accompanied by a side of warm, housemade corn tortillas. Then it’s all DIY from there. Margaritas are a must.
The Oliang Lincoln Park
Oliang (or savory, spiced Thai iced coffee) is the specialty here, along with an assortment of tea-based beverages with optional boba. But, it’s the array of perfectly prepared Thai classics like khao soi, assorted curries, and krapow kai that will keep you coming back. Check out their sister spot, Ryota, too.
John's Place Roscoe Village
You can’t go wrong at this friendly, longtime Roscoe Village favorite. The menu runs deep on comfort food favorites (think beef chili, chicken parm, mac & cheese), and the burgers — among them a build-your-own option with a dozen possible add-ons — always satisfy.
Elia chicago Wicker Park
Look no further than West Town to find a piece of the Mediterranean: chef Özgür “Ozzy” Yavuz brings savory, spiced, and grilled interpretations of classic dishes from Turkey and Greece to this sleek spot — from hummus and babaganoush to assorted kabobs and whole grilled fish for two.
Alhambra Palace Chicago Fulton Market District
This dazzling space channels Moorish palaces of Spain, decked out with a museum’s worth of intricate mosaics and woodwork to set the scene. Whether for an intimate meal or a grand event, enjoy some of the city’s best Middle Eastern food, from dips to kebabs, plus family platters heaped with menu highlights.
Authentico Mexican Restaurant & Bar Lake Forest
You can’t go wrong with a bowl of guacamole and chips, tacos (fish, barbacoa, and more) with housemade corn tortillas, and a few salt-rimmed margaritas. Elotitos — street corn, just cute and small — go with everything. Bonus: The friendly servers, who treat everyone like their regulars.
Nella Pizza e Pasta Hyde Park
Come hungry to this Hyde Park pizzeria (and more) from Naples-born pizzaiola Nella Grassano. The perfect charred Neapolitan-style pies are just the beginning of a menu that ranges from a bountiful mixed antipasto plate to a treasury of pastas (many of them involving seafood), to grilled lamb chops with pancetta potatoes.
Charoen krung by sathorn chicago Lincoln Park
Everything is fresh and bright and full of flavor at this modern Lincoln Park Thai restaurant. Signature dishes include grilled chicken with herbs and stir-fried noodles with river prawns and tamarind sauce — and definitely try the smoky Bangkok old fashioned with coconut sugar and cardamom bitters.
