The Alpharetta location of Monkey 68 relaunched recently with a new menu centered around a standout omakase offering ($130) and à la carte robata dishes. The redesigned interior gives the space an elevated vibe, while still serving up your favorite innovative cocktails and signature dishes like angry ribs.

Boasting a new location on the Westside and a Michelin star to go with it, Hayakawa is one of the best — and most entertaining — omakase experiences in town. You’ll enjoy an intimate eight-seat table for a 16-course omakase, with Atsushi “Art” Hayakawa leading you through the journey. While slicing and preparing your dishes, he provides educational commentary about where he sources his fish (Toyko’s Toyosu market and all over the globe) and humor over his headset microphone. His passion shines through as he engages with diners and takes pictures with them post-meal. More than a meal, eating at Hayakawa is an experience.

The sister spot to the beloved Jak Omakase, Atlanta’s first hand roll bar has become a go-to for superb sushi with a side of fun. Perched at the counter and order the $38 omakase, which offers five hand rolls of the day’s best fish, or go off-piste and order a la carte, with flavorful offerings ranging from creamy uni or blue crab with mayo and Sriracha, to a ‘Big Mac’ roll packed with torched wagyu, uni and caviar.

Jason Liang’s relaxed temaki (hand roll) bar in Dunwoody excels as a relaxed, light-filled café by day serving specialty coffee and outstanding pastries (courtesy of bona fide talent ChingYao Wang), morphing into a cozy sushi bar in the evening. Much of the action takes place around the wraparound sushi counter, where guests can watch the chefs press, slice, and roll a range of sushi hand rolls ranging from the familiar (hello, spicy tuna and Hokkaido uni), to nontraditional temaki that references Liang’s Taiwanese heritage. Don’t know where to start? Let the chefs choose – there’s a $28 set with classic temaki, all the way to a $95 omakase packed with premium seafood hand rolls. Pro tip: Vegetarian guests are well-catered for here, with dedicated menus specifically for non-meat eaters.

Its vibrant energy spills onto the Canton Street patio, so grab a seat on the umbrella-shaded sidewalk terrace and enjoy people-watching while sipping a lychee martini or yuzu margarita.
