The June Hit List: Mi Vida, Dauphine’s, St. Anselm, and More

This New Orleans-themed restaurant from the Salt Line team is new to Resy this month, and brings a beautiful patio for outdoor eating and drinking whether for an office lunch, happy hour, or fancy date night downtown. Since it’s summer, feast on seasonal favorites like fried green tomatoes, oysters sourced from the Chesapeake Bay, and scallop amandine.

There isn’t a better table in town for a group meal to celebrate a special occasion. St. Anselm offers ample dining options, including reservations for nine or more guests. It also includes covered patio space, and a private dining room with a menu offering something for everyone — from a juicy burger to butter biscuits and hanger steak.

This Irish pub has been around for decades and includes live music on weekends, plus plenty of bar space to watch your favorite team play. No visit is complete without ordering a pint of black-and-tan paired with the Guinness burger. The late night specials menu runs all week long.

This Silver Spring seafood-centric restaurant recently celebrated its one-year anniversary, and this summer, J. Hollinger’s serves up a bounty of Chesapeake Bay cuisine including Maryland crabcakes and rockfish filet. Those who prefer to stay on land can enjoy one of several premium cuts of beef.

For a delicious date night that won’t break the bank, book it to Corduroy. This restaurant serves up an impressive five-course tasting menu at $85 per head. Or you can opt for decadent a la carte options like peppered tuna with hijiki vegetables and sushi rice ($33) and pork belly osso bucco with tarbais beans ($30).

Skip the Bay Bridge traffic, and opt for a staycation with beach-chic decor instead. Vagabond in Dupont Circle takes you there with seaside decor and a tropical menu evoking someplace tropical. There is also a downstairs speakeasy dedicated to Patrick Swayze — should you want to hang ten with a cocktail a la “Point Break.”

Chef Minoru Ogawa showcases an eight-course tasting menu in the vein of izakaya-style Japanese cuisine. This is a dining experience that is intentionally small, intimate, and mostly relies on word of mouth. But it seems news has spread, with reservations required to book at least a few weeks in advance.

Two seatings are available Wednesday through Friday, and three seatings Saturday and Sunday. Some of the latest buzz is centered around a wine program curated by Ari Wilder, plus cocktails created by Corey Landolt (both with Zeppelin).
